since every mission planned has failed so far, how about this. i've been doing this now for a couple months so help me out. for every $$ bills you have, write (somewhere on it. top, bottom, back, whatever) dollars-bbs.org and the pw as well. one day, when i receive cash from somebody, i would be happy to see everyone's effort. also if you want yours to stand out, put a symbol on it. [example: Kaori does this and she also put a small heart in a corner of each $$ bill, if i get a "heart" $$ i know it was from her] make sense?

It's illegal, but they won't really care unless you're defacing it to change its value or something more illegal.
As long as you don't try to cover up the value parts of it (the 10 on a 10 dollar bill or something) or any other important parts, then it's fine. I'm writing mine in the whitespace towards the center, for example.

You're just going to draw the wrong kind of attention to the site, and to the dollars. This isn't a good idea, and I don't recommend that anybody do it.

In the end, you're just going to destroy the dollars that way. think about it.

the point is not to aimlessly draw thousands, if not millions of people towards the site. that takes away from the value of being a member. besides, then you're just exposing the dollars to the public too blatantly, you're going to end up with your entire site swarmed with tons of kids, or haters, it'll essentially become another cancerous 4Chan in the end.

If you're worried about violating our purpose, remember we only really have a loose definition - that anyone can join indiscriminantly. I don't like certain people on online communities, but assuring that even they can't be a part of this violates that very purpose we started with.

I am sorry. I simply find it offensive that you blatantly reject an innocent recruitment idea as the potential downfall of this community. How do you suppose a large portion of our current members made their way here in the first place? You're right to a degree. I feel that it's sort of relaxing to have access to a website (albeit anonymous) that isn't overrun with press and distaste these days, especially one with relative interests to my own, However, in the same sense, I never said that the dollars were a "secret group" or that there was a problem with recruiting new people. I'm not sure you truly realize that you're also targeting a much more broad audience using this method. seeing as statistically, worldwide, 4 out of 5 people have internet access, and about 6 billion people have access to currency. Anonymous sites are always being trolled by those people, why would you go out of your way, to intentionally invite them? Especially considering the blatant fact that the site has a password to log in, That's enough for most people to immediately pick it apart. Thats generally how these things work. Why do you think other sites like 4chan are full of trash now? Because of the anonymity. You can do and say as you please, so why wouldn't you? If somebody stumbles upon this site, It's solely because they were invited, or searched for it because they watched Durarara!! and it's obvious how to access it in that sense.

You have a rather selective view of the internet and mankind in general. Everyone is rather quick to bring up 4chan as an example of assholes and anonymity, but they're also rather selectively blind to the fact that a vocal minority is more accounted for than a silent majority.

As stated before, this site has been spammed in 4chan before. Several times, actually - We got trolls from it. They got bored after a day or two and they left, what else did we get? I know several people here who are perfectly fine and well adjusted individuals who came from 4chan.

There are how many millions of people on 4chan? If you want to play logic then lets play logic. A structure that does not work and/or does not produce results will be left in disrepair and eventually abandoned. This is why government systems change to fit the era of history, why science continues to evolve, and here's the kicker - Why 4chan, [H] and the like continue to exist just fine.

Your rather quick to note 4chan for it's assholes and trolls. What about the majority of the people who aren't? What about the hours upon hours, the hundreds of threads each day in all the different sections where something is posted in either request or conversation and they work out fine because the people involved in them just feel like contributing? Are all of those threads somehow rendered not-important because every now and then you have some fool devoting an hour or so of his life to being a deviant little prick?

Anonymity and being an asshole are mutually exclusive events. Yes, you can be both at the same time. But to imply that it ranks up the percentage of that occurring to such a standard? Absurd. Everyone here is anonymous and you still find pleasant conversation and intellectual debates occuring here. On that same note, you still find the random asshole who just wants to piss people off - You find them everywhere. Anonymity isn't changing much.

You can do and say as you please even without anonymity, it's like everyone is convinced that as soon as you're not being watched and judged you revert into a raging jerk. Anonymously, I do and say about the same as I usually do or say. Very few people are going to have ill-tempered alternate personalities that burst free as soon as your name becomes "anon".

Now, I'm not sure how old you are, or where you live, but maybe you haven't caught on yet. people aren't a cut and dry mold. Some of us are assholes, some of us are indifferent, some of us are genuinely nice. Some of us are sarcastic, some of us have little ticks that frustrate us. There isn't any illusion that the world is bright and happy and sparkly here, but at the same time there isn't any preconceived notion that the world sucks and Humans Are Bastards. At best, it's indifferent.

This isn't even really a dedicated recruitment effort. It's something fun that we enjoy doing. If some people show up because of it? Awesome - It'll be a little highlight in our day. If no one shows up? Well, we're still enjoying the act of it. If it's not something you enjoy, don't do it.

People write on bills all the time. I've seen "Trackthisbill.org" and stuff on bills. I work as a cashier in the busiest grocery store of that branch out of 4 provinces. I see money a lot, and theres always doodles and text on them.

If people are worried about the legality of writing on currency, I have another idea. If you still go to school in which the teachers lend out school textbooks, take a stickynote, write the address and pw, your signature and stick it between some of the pages. I'm sure they'll get around eventually. If you dont go to school, you could also do the same thing with public library books. They travel and circulate to alot of places so we can get out Dollars that way...

Since the Internet Hate Machine loves to destroy websites like this, it's only a good idea to recruit members using real life tactics...

While at a Best Buy today, I discovered a "writing section" where they had different markers you can test out on booklets of paper.Let's just say about 15 pages from each booklet now has the site URL and password on them ;D

I would hate to make people hate the dollars by them getting a bill thereby dubbed as useless making people hate us since we technically indirectly unintentionally stole their money then. I see what you mean about interested members though - but even some of those members wouldn't bother if they figure out there's a password involved. Writing the URL and password on a dollar bill is probably the most obscure method we have.
But that's your judgement call of course. I was just saying there's nothing wrong with putting the password or not, either way fulfills the goal to some degree of success.

Basically, it's illegal to modify a US dollar to make it appear to have more value then it does.

So
-A person writes random stuff, like a website name, on a dollar bill: OK
-A person writes on a $5 bill to make it appear to be a $20: Illegal.
-A person writing stupid stuff on a check, keeping all important areas legible: OK
-Trying to modify the amount of a check: Illegal

Theres only one problem with this idea though. My mom works at a bank, and if money that has anything written comes through there, they take it out of cycle. so if the money gets to a bank its headed to wherever they take old broken money. But im still going to do this, as i said in earlier posts my symbol is going to be overlapping triangles

I read a post earlier on that said you could track your bill in the U.S. and Canada on a website. I believe it's called Where's George or something. So I now have my bills registered to see where they travel!

I saw something like this before. There was a site where you could track your dollar to see how far around the world it had gone because of the Url and code written on it.

It was interesting and it was surprising how far that money could go. I'm not sure what the website is anymore though... It's a good idea for sure.

In my honest opinion I don't think that any legal prosecutions would be a problem, I mean come on, it's just a little symbol on the corner of a bill. Nothing harmless.

And I was looking through the comments and thought it would be, if not, practically impossible to memorize all the symbols and the person who is using the symbol. Maybe we all should just agree on one symbol and write it on all our bills. And if there is already a symbol on a bill then we would know it belonged to a fellow Dollar. :3 just a thought. :D

"unfit to be reissued" is the key phrase there. We're only writing on the corner of the dollars. We're not writing directly on any sort of number on the dollars so as to make it not usable.

It's illegal to deface money...

If there is no proof of it is you who has done the defacing though, then there is little the police or anyone can do unless they see you with the defaced bill, with your certain mark on it. Plus I am rather certain that if the site and password is written small enough, then it might not be defacing the actual bill, as it can still be viewed as a dollar bill.

Remember the consistancy of this website, we don't do Illegal things.

I think I'll just write positive messages & suggest people to watch Durarara!! since that's where The Dollars originated from. And if they do watch it they'll know and understand the whole "Dollars" concept. If they liked the anime they will probably (hopefully) seek for this site on their own.

Since I don't live in the US, I've only got 1 dollar bill, but I will exchange our currency for dollars and do this.
I still believe most of our member should be those who have watched DRRR!!, since, like Kid said, they will understand the purpose of the Dollars, but whatever.
