"The world is not black and white, no matter what comics and storybooks you read as a child with honorable heroes and black hearted villains. The world is gray, some parts shaded gray like the tired sky. Others vibrant and alive and hungry. People are gray, gray with aching bones or gray with common selfishness. Even the children are gray, growing up too quickly in a world that sees colors on the outside and sickness on the inside. The violence is masked swiftly with ideas and delusions of order.

Not many look deep enough to see the underbelly of our society, not many want to. We blind ourselves with blinding bone white justifications and assassinate the unsettled inky darkness that many people drown in without a scream or a whisper. We walk without seeing the stains and signs of struggle, we stare straight ahead and try not to see what goes on in the alley ways and catacombs. Those who make errors and mistakes are darkened at the edges and chased mercilessly on a manhunt for blood and a beating hearts. None can see the fever in their bones. None can witness the ashes of loss in their blood and beating hearts.

The skeleton of our world is beginning to crumble. Gray, gray, dust. Steel to rust. Spilled blood to a forgotten stain. Soon, the rising smoke from our dying fire of an empire will be the only thing left. It too, is gray."
