Story prompts? (4)

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any good prompts. I've hit the literary wall, so to speak, and would really appreciate some ideas. To quote Johnny Depp, if someone could "lend a machete to [my] intellectual thicket."

I like to write, as Carver put it, dirty realism, which is sort of a gritty look at everyday life (no magical fantasy stuff, just straight up realism), but I also thought this might be a cool thing to have on the literature board for other writers who want a little spark for the imagination.

You know what? I believe that page Humans of New York is full of good ideas for stories. Recently I was trying to write some short stories and was finding great inspirations there! Art imitates life, so knowing real stories told by real people may be a great start!

"They say that time is infinite. There was never a beginning, nor will there ever be an end. Time is tricky in that way, and it slips by, just like that. Because, even as you read this, one your eyes move onto another word, what you just read happened in the past. Every waking minute is the present, yet it is the past, and the future. You can trap time, but you can try is stop it. Well, not really. But you can make it feel slower, as if what's happening to you is slow, slower than syrup dripping down from a bottle. If its slow, you can savour life, you can help your friends, and you can love people. At least, that's what I thought."

A story about someone trying to escape time, maybe? Like, trying to live their life, helping people along the way. It would be especially cool if it was in a medivalish magical world, where they're a hero. Like, they're the mage in a group of heroes, and the leader is a royal? They're friends with the royal, but they're not relatively known, even though they're undoubtedly the strongest. And they suffer with depression? Not the storybook kind, but like actual, real life mental disorder depression.

(Holy shit that was long)
