So, I was wondering what you hate the most about stories that have people with "super powers". Also, what would you like to see more in these sorts of stories? Please help me out, I'm going to need it for a story I'm writing.

I'd say the the problem usually starts with the part where the hero gets the powers or how their came to be. Of course everyone wants to know how the hero acquired their powers but sometimes the stories tend to get a bit ridiculous at this part. Ex. from Spongebob: in some newer episode mermaid man and barnacle boy went through nuclear waste, toxic materials, etc., but in the end they acquired their powers through radiated popcorn from the microwave. Nothing special, but very stupid.

If your writing the story just be creative. And character development. If the character faces a problem don't makes them resolve it in 5 seconds and then have them be all sunny and chipper.

I think that's about all I got. Hope you have fun writing your story :)

I like to see more emphasis put on not only the origin of superpowers but what the powers are. I'm tired of stories whose main characters have the magical powers of the four elements or the common powers in Marvel's tackier comics. I really enjoy it when it's original.

As for the origin deal, this is basically figure out the mechanics behind the powers. The more elaborate the backstory, the more interested I am.

Science background. It's almost entirely made up, incorrect garbage.
