To keep it short, this is my poem for a creative writing task and i want people to give me notes on how i can improve it. The theme is Belonging (ofc) and so here it is... please enjoy xD:
Generation Why
Why?
I sit here wondering to myself, why?
The repetitive flashing of the screen urges the question,
As does the silence.
Over and over again,
Time and time again.
The question reappears,
A void in a starry night.
Why am I required to do what I do;
To do what I am told “must” do?
It may be a jolt of rebellion,
But that does not answer the question.
There is a constant reoccurrence with the predicament
That is so extremely difficult to answer it disappears,
In a breath.
In a society that encourages more of “YES”
And less of “NO”.
But in a society like that,
What is the value of acceptance?
Is it the simple obedience of a loyal subject,
A dog?
Or is it the uniqueness that is said to be found in everyone,
But me?
“Life is unfair.”
Yes, it is, but it is what we do with the life that makes it unfair.
No, it isn’t, it is what we do with the life that makes it unfair.
Both statements are true,
And both statements are false.
Why?
You may ask,
But we both truly know,
We don’t.
