Alright, so, I didn't see any threads for this, and I figured since I was spamming the Literature boards this morning, I might as well say something about this wonderful bit of work.
I'm really not sure how to explain this series other than the fact that it's AMAZING. I know some people tend to see all of Scott's work like "The Uglies" and what have you, but this definitely stands out on it's own. I gobbled up this book like it was the Nectar of the Gods and eagerly awaited the second one. The third is coming out September 20th and I'm stupid happy-excite for it to come out.
More or less, this series is sort of an AU of World War I in a steampunk style. It sounds a bit silly on it's own, but goddamn, goddamn it's amazing. I had the amazing luck of being able to do a meet-and-greet sort of thing with Scott Westerfield and I got my copy of volume 2 signed.
Still, any fans of this out there? Or maybe someone who wants to give it a read?

I went to Target last night and was smart enough to check if they happened to have Goliath, AND THEY DID!!! I promptly began reading it on the bus, using my cellphone light and continued to read it until I finished. Six and a half hours of awesomeness! In my opinion, Westerfeld did great on the final book of this series and that he handled all the inevitable (and surprise) conflicts well without making it overly dramatic or anticlimactic. Augh, all my emotions are just exploding!! \(*A*)/~<3
