That actually sounds pretty badass awesome.

The next time I actually decide to read a book voluntarily I'll have to check out this one.

>>2 I love the Temeraire series, you should take check it out. It is the best Historical/Fantasy book I've read (not that I've read that many).

It is amazingly good. No series can pull off a Crowning Moment of Awesome like that one - Without images or music, the words alone when Temeraire first used his Celestial Roar were just mindblowing.

Well, with that kind of backup it looks like I actually have to arse myself to go out of my way to find this book series.

To the library for once!

Unfortunately, as I got to the latest releases I can't help but feel that the main went out like a pussy. If you read it, you'd know what i mean.
Oh and btw, Try to keep it was spoiler free as possible when discussing just incase someone might wanna check it out.
I'll let you go free this time, Aya.

The Ender's Game Series / Bean is one that jumps to mind. Even though Ender's Game & Ender's Shadow by far are the best of the two series. And the fact Orson Scott Card is kind of a bigoted asshole.

I would recommend the Bartimaeus Trilogy to people who like sci-fy stuff.

Harry Potter anyone?

Also I heard Dune is supposed to be really good? I'll get around to reading it sometime.

>>9 Oh, I remember reading that trilogy. I really liked it.
I don't think sci-fy is the word for it, though.

I'm not a big reader so I haven't read the other ones you mentioned though.

Yeah I was brushing my teeth this morning and it popped into my head that I said Bartimaeus was sci-fy, it's definitely a fantasy haha.

"A Song of Fire and Ice series by George R.R Martin" *////*
Maybe (in my opinion) the best fantasy books of Today.

I can't believe nobody mentioned this already, the series is just so amazing. The "His Dark Materials" book trilogy by Philip Pullman would definitely have to top off my list of fantasy books, and I have read plenty. A Song of Fire and Ice would come in a close second but there is just something about the Philip Pullman series that I adore, even now I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyway, I highly recommend reading these books to anyone who hasn't done so already. They are quite simply, fantastic.

The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme by Elizabeth Haydon--Captivating story, unique settings, and interesting mythical creatures such as the merrow. Unfortunately, I believe the series stopped suddenly after Book 3, but I would definitely reccomend the first three books, starting with The Floating Island.
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
The Septimus Heap Series by Angie Sage--My favorite series when I was young! Ah the memories! Starts with the book Magyk.
The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness--An adult fantasy starting with the book A Discovery of Witches. Involves alchemy, Medieval history, witches, vampires, and demons--an ingenious work.

The Stone and the Flute by Hans Bemmann
Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny
Lord of the Rings by Tolkien
Night watch by Terry Pratchett
Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake
Always Coming Home by Ursula Le Guin
all of them are a cut above everything else I've read, both fantasy and otherwise

The Legend of Drizzt by R. A. Salvatore. My favorite book series, fantasy or otherwise. I think R. A. Salvatore is an amazing author.

I'm partial to the Tamora Pierce books. I've read the Song of the Lioness quartet, Circle of Magic series, the Trickster series, and the Beka Cooper series. Beka was my favorite, she was just so bad-ass while still being completely unsure of herself.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy was pretty awesome, but it could be rather dry at times. Overall, I liked it better than the movies (and I loved the movies), but there were moments when the movies improved scenes from the books. I'll put it at number two on my list.

Neil Shusterman deserves a place on this list. He likes to blend modern day stuff with fairy tales and will often talk about issues with society. I'd suggest his Unwind series (it'll be a trilogy but only two are currently out). It takes place in a future where abortion has been totally outlawed in favour of "unwinding". If you decide after your child is born that you don't like him or her, or that they'll be too much of a problem, or they get into trouble with the law before turning 18, they can be "unwound". In other words, they are taken apart for scraps and given to people who need the parts. Heart attack? Here, take this healthy 13 year old heart. Broken arm? That's fine, we can replace it. Your kid isn't smart? We can throw in some extra brain cells. The series fallows three kids, one who is being unwound because he's a problem child, one because the orphanage has budget cuts, and one who actually wants to be for religious purposes. It's a really good read.

A good series is the Unicorn Chronicles by Bruce Coville. It is supposed to be for kids in middle school but I actually found it to be riveting and deep in meaning. I suggest you check it out.
