Well I just started playing League of Legends and it's great. I posted a message about this on the steam group but I thought I would post it here as well. Was wondering if anyone wanted to play together. My name is Confunk on LoL and Pooba on steam.

Also, right now I am focusing on playing as Ashe. Would anyone have any advice on what kind of item build to give her. Right now I go mercury boots(or combat greaves), then black cleaver, blood thirstier, and infinity edge. I do good dmg but my defense isn't that great. Any armor suggestions or entirely new builds?

Ashe is a great champ. Be sure to level Volley and her Ultimate ASAP.

As for items, starting off with a Doran's Blade will help you maintain your lane. Infinity Edge is a great item for her, and I also recommend a Frozen Mallet so your attacks slow and your pretty much guaranteed to chase someone down.

Madred's Bloodrazor and Phantom Dancer are excellent as well.

As for your boots, I say go with Berserker's Greaves for that attack bonus, unless the enemy team has enemies with annoying stuns, like Sion, Morgana, etc. THEN go with Merc Treads.

Don't worry too much about defense. Frozen Mallet increases HP as well, and if mages are being a problem, go for a Banshee's Veil.

Haha my friend and I used to play a SICK Master Yi and Kayle combo - we'd carry the entire game just the two of us. We were pretty beasty, we haven't played since though. This was around the time the game first came out though, not sure what's been changed since then.

Red Buff + Q + BoS means no one will be able to get away from you.

I believe my build would be Dorans Blade -> Boots -> BF Sword -> Zeal then build into Boots of Swiftness, Infinity Edge and Phantom Dancer. After that you can go Bloodthirster for sustain, Banshees Veil/Guardian Angel if you find yourself dying too quickly, or Last Whisper/Madred's Bloodrazor if the other team is too tanky. Be creative and build your way.

Some play style tips... use the arrow when you can. Always practice hitting people in other lanes with it. If the enemy is dancing around with your teammates at bot, toss an arrow their way (assuming you are mid) and hope to hit someone and get the stun. That, if your teammates are aware (try to ping the map first), should net your team an easy kill.

I've been playing again recently. I like it because it isn't time consuming - I can play a round when I only have like an hour or so to use the computer, or if I need to procrastinate, but not for hours on end. I've been too busy to keep up with MMOs lately.

I tend to play as Tristana or other AD carries. I'm kind of noobish though, so I tend to feed just a little more than the rest of my team. Working on not charging in as a squishy champ.

That said, recently I've taken to playing Kennen, because his style of playing requires charging in like a crazy person and nuking. His lightning dash move is like my favorite thing to abuse.

Does anyone wanna do 5v5 games? Maybe get a 5's team going? Who knows, if everyone's good enough we could do ranked. Lol.

I've been playing LoL for a few months since my online friends got me into it. Been level 30 for a good while now but haven't done any ranked games out of lack of interest. Though that may change now that they've introduced ranked teams and my friends are wanting to start one up.

I recommend http://solomid.net/guides.php for anyone looking for advice on builds and such. As many of the guides there point out, you always want change up and adapt your build depending on the circumstances of each game, but they typically provide a good template for starting out with a new champion.

Super stoked for the new champs this Tuesday. Varus, and Hecarim look like they'll be pretty fun to play.

I Play it. In game name is Zarkran. Warning for all right now, normal is a LOT more fun than ranked. Less stuff to worry about, no "penalty" for losing.

That being said, a few tips.

For the current meta-game (standard distribution of heroes ) Your going to build tanky unless your a mage or Ranged AD.

By tanky, i mean at least 125 armor-mr and 2.5k hp.
Why?
100 armor/mr is the cut off point for 50% damage reduction, 150 is about 60%. 125 is an easy value to get, and gives you damage resistance in the mid fifties.

If your ranged Ad, generally you'll want to build glass cannon and position yourself so you don't get owned by people who want to kill you. Trist is probably the best late game AD. With correct items, she has a built in flash, a knock back, and then 700 range to melt faces with.

Similarly, if your the mage, stay back and don't get owned immediately.. let a tanky person go in first.

In lane, unless your support, Try to last hit minions, and last hit only. There are exceptions to this, but in general it's the rule.

On that note, other helpful tips;

If you are good at not being a douche bag, don't be a douche bag. (unlike me)

If you can play a carry lane AND WIN IT by all means, play that lane AND WIN IT. If you cannot win that lane, DON'T PLAY IT.

If you are a jungle, with the exceptions of Warwick and Skarner, gank before you hit level 6. Skarner and Warwick, you should gank pre-6 if possible, but if you can;t, it's understandable.

For the love of god, if your the bloody tank, stay in the team fight. Don't run out. If you die, you die, but all the damage that is being focused on YOU is not being focused on the people on your team who deal damage.
In example, don't play shyvana if you're going to dragon out of every team fight. It makes you useless.

If your the ranged Ad, try to stay out of insta gibbing aoe ults. If you do not, you will probably die, and your team will be sad.

And once again.
Don't. Facecheck. The bushes. DON'T DO IT. It makes lanes get lost, and people want to murder little kittens

Oh my god, as much as I love the game, I've come to REALLY SUCK. Only time I've done decent lately is last week when Lulu was free to play. I discovered I can play her rather well, but I haven't done well in anything but a bot game since last year. And, I swear, I'm everyone's target on that game! No matter who I'm playing, how well I do, bot game or PVP, I'm always the one being targeted by the enemy team. ALL OF THEM. I don't know why it's like that, but it is.

And that constantly dying is why I've been leaning more towards playing either Lulu or a tank, most likely either Alistar or Leona cause I have them and have a good tanking item build.

Huh, I thought this thread was dead. Eh, while I'm here I might as well share something that I've learned recently.

Now, Sona is a decent support character that can be built with a standard support build. If you do that and don't be a retard, assuming that your teammates are competent then you'll have a reasonable chance of winning. Her aura effects can honestly mean the difference between a close win or a close loss in a teamfight.

However, Sona has one downside that hampers a support build - her AP scaling is absolutely shit.

This means that as long as you're willing to adjust your play style there are two non-standard builds that I've tested in level 30 games which work as long as you adjust accordingly.

The first build is aura-whore Sona - all you do is stack as many items as possible that project auras (or have useful effects) that your team needs - Soul Shroud for the cooldown reduction and MP regen, Zeke's Herald for the attack speed and lifesteal, Frozen Heart for slowing the enemy attack speed, Locket of the Iron Solari for the HP regen and the active shield ability, Will of the Ancients for the AP and the spell vamp, and your choice of boots. I'll admit that I haven't got the build order downpat, but once it is up and running it's very useful. Downside is that it will be a constant struggle to remain alive if you attract any aggro, so at all times stick close to another champion. (Also, be sure to inform to inform your team if you are pulling this build - those lovely auras generally don't stack after all).

The second build is a lot more fun, but a lot more risky at the same time. Essentially, you're building AD/attack speed Sona. Yes, you heard right - building a support as an AD carry. Once again I haven't got a proper order down pat yet, but the first three items I always get are a Meki Pendant, Mercury Treads, and a Wit's End. Typically by the end game I have a Nashor's Tooth, Mercury Treads, Wit's End, Hextech Gunblade, Trinity Force or a Lich Bane, and an Infinity Edge. Finally, I usually run Exhaust/Ignite with this build in mind.

As AD Sona, your main targets are anything squishy. If you see a tank, run. If you see anyone with decent amounts of CC, run (looking at you Fiddles). Anyone else is generally fair game. Before you get the full item build constantly buy wards and plant them everywhere - your main friend is information. Yes, this is as insane as it sounds - you are literally ganking with Sona and expecting to win.

When moving into gank the unsuspecting squishy, make sure you have power chord up and set to Q. Hit with the auto-attack first, then hit Q followed by W in that order. If the enemy has burst damage you're worried about then lay down Exhaust. This fire off will usually do 1/2 to 3/4 of a carry's health, prompting them to run or stand and fight. If they run, hit E and deliver the slow powerchord, OR you can use the Hextech Gunblade active, OR you can use your R, OR you can fire Exhaust if you haven't already. If they fight, keep on alternating Q and W while hitting with basic attacks. Don't be afraid to use anything else if it will guarantee your victory.

Now, some of you are probably asking how this all works at all. Let me lay this out for you:
You remember how I said that the AP scaling was shit yet I took Nashor's Tooth and the Hextech Gunblade? This is where the Lich Bane/Trinity Force comes into play - 1:1 scaling of AP to AD that only requires you to ability spam - which is something you want to do with Sona all the time regardless of build.
The Infinity Edge gives you the ability to crit for 2.5x damage every 4 strikes - which is a very pleasant thing when you have an attack speed between 1.5 and 2 and you're doing 160+ damage per strike before bonuses.
Wit's End is just there for the early punching power and the attack speed bonus. If you really wanted to, then late game you could replace it with Madred's Bloodrazor.
The Mercury Treads are there just in case you get CC'd - Tenacity is a useful skill.

Just for you people who for some reason want raw numbers to calculate damage output, I'll deliver below - assuming you went Lich Bane over Trinity Force:
Basic attack at level 16: (92+80+40(+20 if Q active))x(2.5 if crit, otherwise 1) + 168 (if powerchord)x(2 if Q powerchord, otherwise 1) + (70+80+65 if ability used in last 3 seconds(+20 if Q active)) + 42
Minimum damage before armor/MR: 254
Maximum damage before armor/MR: 1193
Maximum damage without crit before armor/MR: 845
Maximum damage without powerchord before armor/MR: 857
Don't forget that you are still spamming your Q and dealing additional magic damage, along with the Hextech Gunblade active and Ignite being at your disposal.

Anyways, tl;dr summary of builds:
Aura-whore Sona: You like your team and want to play support
AD/attack speed Sona: You want to kill Teemo in under 3 seconds

Facechecking bushes; Running into a bush you don't have sight of head first.

@ Tall Your pushing too much in the solo lanes it sounds like. Revert to a last-hit-only play style, and ward bushes where you think enemies may try to gank you from.

Is it bad that I can only do good with like.. 3 heros?

Actually, I very VERY rarely go solo at all. I mostly stick with my team mates and we try to coordinate a strategy, but, well, I get targeted a lot. I've basically picked out my four champions. And I've been improving my map awareness as well. Unfortunately I've been suffering from some FPS problems. At best, it's been 7, so I can hardly see what's going on. I'm gonna see if I can improve my graphics, cause my standard is about 30, maybe 20 sometimes, and it kills me more often than latency, cause it causes me to misclick EVERYTHING.

@ sleep depends on how good you are with those three heroes.

@ Tall, if your getting tageted a lot, aim for the armor/mr check points i mentioned earlier. Even just 100 armor/mr will force champs on the enemy team to buy spellpen/armor pen, which usually does slightly less damage over all.

Im pretty good, but I end up getting bashed for choosing a supposedly weak hero.

I've been getting my usual armor/mr earlier in the game just to counter that, and luckily I'm becoming more able to fight past my usual quota of at least 7 deaths per game and just push like mad, which normally leads to a lot of killing. It also probably helps that one of my best characters is a tank that I build for heath, armor, and magic resist.

@ Tall Any ratio under a 3:1 is pretty terrible (K:D:A)
Pushing like mad is not always a good thing to do if it opens you up to being easily easily ganked.

@ Sleep, some heroes are weaker than others. The game is unfortunately, not balanced, and some heroes will usually dominate whatever they do.

Understandable. I'm learning to avoid ganks better and I only push that way when every opposing team member is accounted for and occupied, otherwise I take part in the teamfights, and I don't quite care as much about dying since it normally helps my other team members survive, or gets some kind of objective done. So even if I die, it wasn't without a reason. Either way I'm working on overall improving. It's gonna be fun.

Indeed. Btw. Ranked queue(solo/duo maybe) makes people want to shoot themselves at times. You have been warned

Anyway, I guess i haz a tip once again;

In any of the draft mode games, try not to pick solo lanes before the other team picks the solo lanes.
The solo lanes are rather easy to counter, and getting counter picked, while not the end of the world, does make everything harder.

If you MUST pick a solo lane first, be sure the lane is one of two things.

Either A; Very hard to counter pick (Mordekaiser mid, Irelia top, warwick top, etc)
Or B; Can be confused for a jungle (Lee sin, udyr, etc)

As per usual, no matter what lane your in, be good at last hitting (mid/top/Ad bot) Jungle should last hit if they're covering a lane, and support can last hit if their ranged Ad is not in the lane.

That being said, Remember to ward. Getting ganked over and over and feeding the enemy team gold and XP is a bad, bad, BAD thing.

Right now I stick with tristana, yi, and sometimes tryndamere, but I feel like having more diversity

Physical damage champs vary.

The current metagame has a physical damage champ as one of three roles;
Ranged Ad bot
Top
Jungle

Typically top and jungle HAVE to be tanky, so if your going for pure physical damage i would go for ranged Ad.

The ranged Ad of my preference is either graves/trist, graves dominates early/mid game, and trist dominates late game (Please note that this is usually, not always)

To play graves
Q E Q W Max Q then E take ult when you can
Items-> Either dorans or boots+3 pots depending on support
Item build
BF sword should be first item when you go back
Then boots
Build Bf into IE/Bt
Get IE (if BT first) or PD
BT/PD if you just got ie/ Last whisper if the enemy team has a lot of armor
Last whisper
Guardian angel

I'm not going into how to play graves, but there is a way you should play him if possible, and there are two ways to play him.


Won't go into Trist. She's a pretty easy Ad.
Farm farm farm/ get fed/ Use abilities to keep enemies away and then auto attack them.
Build is a standard glass cannon (Abuse that 704 range at level 18!)
Boots, IE, Bt, PD, LW, Madreds/ some other phys damage item you want

So I just noticed that you can get ip & exp from computer battles, and to me it seems kind of cheap. What are your guys's(?) opinion on it?

Reduces as you level higher. IT's always less than PvP at 30.

Learn to not feed. Feeding is bad. Dying is bad. Unless your going to get 2 kills/assists with that death, don't die.

I dont know who I like better, tristana or greaves(?). Out of those two who do you like more?

Graves has a better early-mid game, and because of this usually a better late game. But in all honestly if a graves and trist were same gold were to 1 vs 1, trist would probably win.

If you can get really, really good with Trist, use trist, if not, use graves. He's more reliable.

Broke 1700@ Yay, getting good teams so I don't have to carry is a very, very nice feeling.

That being said, I discovered a way to play ashe which allows her to beat graves in harass.
Depending on support take either dorans or boots 3
Take W first, then Q then W then E then W then R Rinse repeat, until W is maxed, then get E to level 4 then max Q, taking ults along the way

BT/LW
Whichever you didn't get before hand
Some tank item, or more damage if i'm doing really well.

Max siphon and the shield first, taking ult along the way, and wait to get Q.

I use flash and ignite.

Play style; try not to get into melee range except to last hit. Once you hit level four, you can use W and walk into minions to kill them with W but I would not reccommend using W until then.

Use siphon of destruction frequently. Preferably hitting the enemy champion when you use it.

Today has been an up and down day with winning. I just haven't been putting much effort into winning. Had a Season 1, 1900 rating, 1v1 me, and said I was actually pretty good. For a level 28, 149 wins I feel accomplished.

I'm liking the new Yi jungle even though his Q is by chance to clear the jungle really fast I've had a few great games thanks to it. Split pushes like a boss too.

Ranked makes me want to SHOOT MYSELF. got good teams last week. Got up to 1750.

Tips for beating him...
1; Have a faster MS than him, if he can't catch you to land the initial abilities, he can't kill you
2: have a ranged poke, or ranged attack. Gangplank, kayle, vlad, etc, are good at harassing darius without being harassed back
3; cc the crap out of him in team fights if he's a threat, if not, do whatever you'd like
4: If you are playing a melee bruiser that's better than darius at bursts, (JAX) Harass darius as soon as you can do so, and when you make trades, make trades that end with you ahead.

Only roles I can't play too well are assassin and jungler. I normally play Warwick, Brand, Leona, and Lulu, and I'm working hard on getting Shyvana, Jayce, and Ezreal (cause I like his Megaman skin). Of course, it means that I can play support, nukemage, tank, and bruiser fairly well. But I still have lots of room for improvement.

Anyway, for the people getting prepped for preseason and what not.

Either you go in balls deep from the start with champions you're good with and try to carry, OR wait like a month for elo to settle down so you can easily climb.

If you want to try to carry games you need to be one of three roles, really.

Tank Dps with a lot of damage.
A good ranged Ad (meaning you can kite the enemy)
A good mage (Again.. meaning that you can kite)

The BEST option for carrying in solo queue is to be really good at jungle.

If you can get the retards on your team more fed than the retards on the other team, you should be able to win (or conversely just get so fed that you carry yourself).

Although I haven't played as him, being against him makes me treat him as a more agressive Singed - if he's alone he's only an annoyance, and that he is only deadly when paired with someone else. If anything the most annoying thing about him is that he can sucessfuly towerdive with his charge and throw, but if you call that OP you might as well call Alistar and Blitzcrank that as well.

If anything I've found that any careful ranged champ can quite easily shut him down by harassing him out of lane. If anything, warding all your brush easily prevents him from being devistating early.

Just a small disclaimer though - I may not have run into any good Voli players as I'm only 22, but I do frequently do premade with 2 or 3 level 30 friends.

alistar is op? Ive always thought of him as extremely underwhelming. But yeah, any ranged dps could probably easily dispatch him solo. It's just that when I played him on his f2p week I destroyed the other teams.

Volibear is rather weak as champions go. His skill set is as follows;

Move speed increase where the next attack made ends the move speed increase and flings whatever you attacked behind you. You deal bonus damage on that one attack

A paltry stacking(stacks on auto attack)attack speed bonus which can be activated after max stacks of the attack speed bonus to deal Flat damage + a tiny % of bonus health + Bonus damage depending on how low your target's hp is

A roar which slows all nearby enemies and fears all nearby enemy creeps, does minor damage

A auto attack self buff which adds essentially ionic spark to all of your auto attacks for the next few seconds

Oh, and his passive is restore a % hp over time after dropping to below a certain % hp.

Bring ignite. That kicks his passive in the crotch, and it also means that if his passive is active anyway, you're about to kill him.

Any dedicated melee bruiser will kill him easily, as his personal skill set isn't that strong until much later on.

Jax, darius, and a few others can easily butcher the bear.

As Pinta said, he is literally a more aggressive singed. Minus the benefits of being as tanky, or having as much CC.

Voli does more damage, but he's also a lot slower.


Alistar and blitzcrank ARE in fact OP by the way.

A good jungle alistar will literally snowball his entire team multiple kills by the 10 minute or so mark. After that he's just a truck ton of cc.

A good blitz crank will get whatever lane he's in fed... Late game, one good pull can potentially win the game for his team.

Maybe Im just seeing alistar played really badly then..

Anyway, @ Sleepology: Yep, that's pretty likely, to play alistar well requires quite a bit of skill actually (or at least a good sense of timing) And a good sense of what you can and cannot do. I'm not a good alistar player but I have seen a couple just wreck the enemy team single handedly

@ Crsis, Warwick is a good solid champ top lane or jungle (assumign meta game) Although he's a much better top because his early gank in the current meta.. is just god awful. His level 6 ganks though are real scary, and he's a great character for stealing baron or being a WTF tanky as hell and initiating.

Yeah, does madreds blood razors magic damage count towards your basic attack? For example lets say im. Fighting someone with thornmail, which returns i think 30% basic dmg, would madreds be added onto that or be counted separately

I do know his ultimate adds stacks onto razors and wit's end.

Thornmail procs off anything that can trigger an on-hit affect, but the on-hit affects themselves pass by the Thornmail - hence the passive of Madred's would pass by fine without triggering damage, but the rest of the attack would including the +40 damage from the item. Note however that the damage Thornmail reflects is based on damage before armor mitigation, so taking armor pen or shred would not hurt you at all.

However, I'd advise against taking the Bloodrazor for almost all situations as the bonuses it gives aren't that great for it's price and the passive is easily countered with a single MR item. If anything the only champion I've used it successfully on is Kog'Maw, if only because he already has an ability that does the exact same thing (alongside throwing a Malady on him).

If you're looking for ways to counter Thornmail, then there are much better options such as using abilities (most are on-ability effect rather then on-hit, so there are still a few that will trigger Thornmail), engaging with a number advantage, or using an item with armor pen or shred. Note that the enemy will only return more damage to you then what they receive if they have over 234 armor (assuming you have 0 MR).

The blood razor effect is added onto your basic attack as magic damage. It's treated as a completely different effect.

Thorn mail does not reflect madred's damage.

The -other- easy way to counter thornmail (besides using abilities) is to have enough life steal to negate the damage that would be dealt. This is harder than it used to be but still possible.

alright its finally that time, what ap 6300 champs do you people recommend.

I think ahri is pretty decent, she has the charm (its like a 2 sec taunt), the sphere ball that does magic damage as you throw it and true damage as it comes back (plus spell vamp every few spells) and her ulti is a pretty neat gap closer.

Firstly, all those mastery and item changes they've been talking about on the forums? This patch just implemented them. You'll have to redo your mastery pages and I reccomend that you run a few bot games to get used to all the new stuff (wheee Defence tree having 15% slow reduction and 15% Tenacity).

The store screen has also changed, so it will take some time to find everything that you used to buy. All the reccomended items have changed though, so it's not quite as retarded to follow the suggested build now. If anything the store now feels a lot like the store from Smite, but that's not necccessarily a bad thing.

From screwing around a bit I can say that although this patch is mostly positive, but it feels like tanks just took a nerfbat to the face - although the improved defence tree helps, the removal of FoN without a replacement MR item alongside the weakening of Warmogs means that tanks now have a hard time dealing with AP heavy teams. Although one might say that Runic Bulwark is the replacement, it's just too underwhelming when compared to other items at the same cost.

Anyways, item changes. Off the top of my head there's around 25 new items, 10 removed items, and a massive amount of rebalancing across the rest. Generally AD items recieved a price reduction, and AP had a wierd bit of fiddling. Deathfire Grasp is now a must-have as it provides 100AP, 15% cooldown reduction, and the active not only retains the old damage based on max hp but also increases the magic damage they take. Abyssal Sceptre and Athene's Unholy Grail took large hits, but Haunting Guise now has a use beyond early game. Boots of Swiftness gained a slow-reduction passive, and all upgraded boots can now have 1 of 5 enchantments attached. Malady is now quite scary as it now does an extra (15 + 10% of your AP) damage per autoattack, which goes amazingly with the new Ruunan's Hurricane - a Teemo or Kog that builds these two items can absolutely decimate waves alongside spreading significant damage across a teamfight.

In my opinion, of the new suport items the best is probably Mikael's Crucible, although Twin Shadows is also nice. Just as before Banner of Command is a shits-and-giggles choice just like Promote, the Shard of True Ice is okay for 1700 gold but loses value very quickly, Runic Bulwark is underwhelming, and the Ohmwrecker, while more of a tank then a support item, can facilitate tower diving.

Masteries have had some tweaking, not exactly sure what the overall effects across the board are though as I can't find concrete figures before masteries interfere. What I do know is that Clarity now gives percentage mana rather then a flat amount, Heal now heals your allies for the same amout as you, Exhaust got buffed in some manner (how so escapes me), Clairvoiance is more visable but lasts longer, Flash feels like it has a longer cooldown, and I have no idea if anything happened to Ignite. Although Barrier has been added to SR I haven't seen it used yet but it's only a matter of time before people work out how and when to use it.

Anyway, just one last thing I want to add in my sleep-deprived state - although full-tank Singed is less viable with the removal of FoN, he still tears up lanes as an off-tank or full AP. Boots of Swiftness (with the movespeed enchantment), Rod of Ages, Rylai's Crystal Sceptre, Liandry's Torment, Seraph's Embrace, and a Banshee's Veil let me stomp on everything in my path and set up my team for aces - combined with a tank mastery page and AP runes you can easily have around 400AP, 4000HP and 3000 mana for around 18k gold. Fiddle around a bit with the new items and you'll find devistating builds that actually cost less gold then the old full builds.

I haven't gotten to play as Warwick lately. A friend of mine keeps insta-locking him as soon as we get into the game, so I'm usually having to pick someone like Garen or Kha'Zix just to fill the roles no one else wants to play. I'm also looking to get Zed, so that should help in the AD department. Either way I'm liking the patch update so far. The shop is even easier to navigate.

Okay, time for a half-baked opinion on Nami. Floating around on other places I've seen a lot of people calling Nami OP, yet as good as she is she's still easily melted in mid (lol champion preview advertising her as a mid), and is easily beaten by another support at bot as long as they keep moving.

Utility wise, Nami is great. Two knockup, heal, and two slows means she should be able to ensure that she gets kills for her ADC or harass mid to oblivion, but the problem is landing her combo. Her Q is ridiculously slow - if you're a ranged champion as long as you keep moving she won't be able to hit you with it, barring amazing predictive abilities. W is a decent ability, but using it means that you're either exposing yourself to danger (for the 2 damage 1 heal) or hanging far back trying to keep your ADC alive (which only gets 1 damage + 1 heal). Outside of direct combat everyone with a heal ability heals more then Nami, as they're either bigger (eg: Soraka) or heal multiple targets. I have nothing bad to say about her E though - although it does get interesting that although the buff scales with Nami's AP the mag pen from the buffed champ gets applied. Her R however is pretty terribad - although it has a massive range it's horrendously slow and can be easily dodged - it's useless as a long-ranged initiation, and up close it's weaker then Sona's R.

Based off my experiences facing her in bot lane the one thing you always want to be doing is continuously moving - if she can't land the Q she can't combo off. As stupid as it sounds, I actually engaged a support Nami as support Soraka up at dragon at equal gold and levels with both of us at full health - she walked away with 1/3rd of her health, I left at 3/4 without using the heal. Likewise as both Sona and Taric I have been able to harass her to oblivion - the obvious solution to this would be to sit back behind the ADC but then she can't utilize two of her abilities effectively.

If you want to play Nami support the best champ to team up with would be an ADC that does their damage off autoattacks rather then spells - sync yourself to their patterns then when they initiate/harass buff them with E. Immediately throw the Q as soon as the opponent gets slowed, then try to go for the 2 heal + 1 damage off the W. Nami is a kill-lane support with shades of a sustain support and as such you want to make plays that will kill enemy champions, not to sit back and farm or harass the enemy. If you try the sustain approach any poke comp will negate everything you do, and Nami doesn't have the kit to harass - you need to take measured risks alongside your ADC.

If you really want to play Nami then grab a friend and do a duo-queue over skype - you'll be much more effective as you'll be able to sync with your buddy and possibly actually land everything. It's kinda like the difference between a Vayne/Taric lane of two solos or a party - the solo lane will be less effective as they'll be reactionary while the party will be working together and know each other's timings.

That's a really good analysis. And it makes me sorta glad that I already picked my support to be Lulu, cause she has a reliable and versatile poke, can either empower an allied mage or make an enemy temporarily defenseless, which tells the team who the optimal target is, and can apply a shield or passive damage, which also makes her poke hit easier. That plus the ability to help an ally escape with her r and good use of the new support items, I may not get many kills with her, but my allies stay in lane a lot longer and can get kills easily whether they use ap or autoattacks, as I always communicate with my team (mostly over Skype) and choose my playstyle based on what will fit the team best.

Jarvan is a pretty good support if you haven't tried him out as a support. Max his armor stand first, his Q second, taking the ult along the way.

It's a fairly aggressive support though, so don't play him unless the Ad you got has some decent damage as well.

About topic. My build for Ashe is KW Sword, berserker boots, infinity edge, blood thirstier (one or two) and fantom dancer (one or two), in the end bunshee for defend. Ad carry isn't tank, team must cover him, the role of this champion is dmg.

Much to my displeasure, Im actually considering refunding fiora due to her inability to close in on people. What do you think, should I keep fiora or replace her with some other champ?

Melee carries have really been a problematic class in LoL simply because they're impossible to balance. Although Yi, Trynd, and Fiora stomp lower level matches a decent player will know how to use their inherit advantages in range and mobility to stomp them into the ground (with the possible exception of ENDLESS RAGE, hope you have hard cc).

You asked for an opinion though, so here it is. If you played her with a carry role in mind refund her, if you played her as a bruiser refund her, if you play her as an assassin competently keep, otherwise refund. I've been playing like shit lately, and it's depressing.

Haven't been enjoying the game lately, ever since the 3.01 patch my ping has gone from 200-250 to 450-500 and with second long disconnects. Pretty much makes it impossible to play anything but support, which frankly I'm trying to avoid as I'm trying to learn other roles (shocking news: instalocks are a dick move, especially when it happens on a constant basis between levels 10 and 28).

So yeah, not going to notice any changes for a while so someone tell me if they finally fix Oracles and let you register stealthed things in brush as soon as you enter it.

I'm partial to Twisted Fate. TF has the best freaking ult, nobody bans him, and he can go almost anywhere (Although Jungle TF is suicide).

Poppy's also pretty good for no reason, provided she's not in SR. Poppy in Rift is pretty annoying to get rolling because of her terribad laning phase.

For the Teemo thing, his help in team fights usually depends on the user. And Teemo's teammates should know that his shrooms are good to bait enemies to when in a pinch, so that's basically teemo helping without even doing as much. As for the team fights again, well, that first skill is a HUGE deal late game against some nasty item locked AD/ADR heroes that you'd probably wanna focus on in team fights. And with an AP teemo, that 1st skill's damage is gonna be a HUGE starter for the fight. XD

Just my 2 cents on Teemo.

I *really* like Twitch though. But I liked him more back when he wasn't nerfed (Invisible was 60 secs at lvl 5, and 2nd skill was totally different, but a lot more useful). Although I like the whole thing where his poison stays even after using his 3rd skill and his ultimate being for a fixed period of time instead of a certain amount of shots.

So then. Sleep. I tried out Fiora (FREE THIS WEEK! AWWW YEAH!) and honestly, I'm not quite sure what your problem with her is. She's a top-lane melee carry with great sustain. The only down side is that like all carries, she is fairly squishy, but the whole point of a carry is to kill them with massive DPS before they can retaliate.

And that Ult man. I kept on using it to dodge everything. So hilarious.

Hopped on the other day to play a few matches with some friends (for the first time in liek a year)...

Turns out that once you go Cho, you don't go back. I played Cho back when I started, and got good to the point where people would request me as their draft tank because I was neigh unkillable (even when I lose a game, my K/D is positive. More often than not, I don't die at all). Turns out you don't lose that ability.

Seriously, having a simple dynamic build will take you miles when you're tanking with Cho. Boots +3 health pots will solo a lane against two champs for the entirety of a game (once won a ranked draft match in season 1 with only a pair of boots), build into merc treads on your first B, then build some tank to counter the carries you're fighting. I especially like Guardian Angel, as it keeps the stacks from your ulti if you do go down.

The fact that he dominated normals (based on luck of top laners going melee) isn't an issue, considering nerfs really only need be applied for ranked. With the same logic, they could nerf galio because he's an anti-mage mid.
If you get counterpicked, just play passive and accept that you're going to have less farm. Call mias and farm under tower and everything will be k.
Besides, anyone with range can stay out of his pull indefinitely, making it so he can't do damage in the first place. If he burns a flash to grab you, simply mimic it in the same direction and you're fine.
Unless someone is extremely clumsy, a ranged champion just won't lose to a Darius.
And even then, there are some melee champs who beat him in lane.
I.e.: Jax, Renekton, Malphite, and Shen.
Jax because of his aoe stun, AA dodge, and escape/ initiate.
Renekton b/c of his stupid lvl 2 burst for half your health.
Malphite because of his shield and ap based poke.
And shen because of a initiate/ escape combo'd with a shield to block all poke.

And even besides those champs, almost every champ ranged can beat him. (I say almost every champ b/c teemo's AA range is short enough to get a pull on if you're fast enough and know your range)
Send an Elise top lane, and Darius cries a flood.

Okay, finally hit 30. Basically I want advice on what I should do before trying ranked. Only role I know well is support, and I don't want to have to support all the way through placement. I will say though that trying to learn roles now is suffering as everyone still instalocks mid/top/adc and the only jungle I know is Xin.

oh as long as you know jungle and support you should be fine. Those are the least commonly picked roles.Usually you should focus on one role but since its solo q you should have one champ for each role.

That team comp is weird but that's what you get in "normals" and not at level 30. Typically Rammus is a jungler (can also support). Fiddle is usually either a jungler or mid (can also support). Talon and Kennen are usually either top or mid, and Gragas from what I've seen is usually mid (but can top).

There is no champ that is better than any other, just champs with different play styles.

Nidalee got nerfed fairly hard in that she's no longer beefy mc fucking beefstick, or can't be built like that as well anymore.
She has a fairly high skill cap, so I wouldn't reccommend her unless you're a god send at skill shotting those spears.

Sona is a solid, and some consider best support because of
A: harass
B: sustain
C: Speed up/slow down
D: Aoe Surpress ult
Never played her, so i don't know her skill level.

Ori is a high skill cap champion. Don't buy her unless you want to devote time into mastering her.

She's a great champ, but she has a high skill cap, and by far isn't an easy champ to master.

Only problems are early game mana costs, outside that he just builds mana and tankiness, and punches people in the face with a hammer.

Specifically, it's an extra 2% of his mana as magic damage, however, this is DOUBLED against champions.
Basically, it's a free muramana, without the mana cost.
And then you build muramana on him, and faceroll.
And if you're top, rush a frozen heart. Gives you extra mana for damage, and even more armor than the already persistent armor from his w. That, and his w is a walking aegis. 12% of all his armor is proc'd on all nearby allies, which makes him a walking aegis. (which can be build for an entire team of tankiness). When he uses his w, it not only damages all nearby enemies, but shreds their armor and MR by 30 at max rank.
Add that to a self-heal, and an ult that has a 60 second cooldown, and he just doesn't care about the enemy team.

Oh, there's a blue buff that I can steal? Eh, I'll just ult to clear it, it'll be up before the next teamfight.
What's that? A team with an ad poke (Jayce)? Too bad, my team's getting free ~50 armor late game while near me, and I can heal for any damage dealt. Have fun.
You want to poke him in laning phase? Stun> bash in face> w > bash in face > heal damage received > repeat.
That, and the range on his stun is the same as a lot of ranged auto attacks, so he can bash you in every time you go to poke.

Hell, he can even jungle. Simply clear, go to a lane to gank that the enemy's overextended in, stun, walk in, w, and you're ally has a free flash or kill. Since it's a 1.2 second stun at level 1 with such a long range, there's not really anywhere to escape to. That, plus the ally of Taric doing bonus damage due to him using his shatter (w) on you, and you have no MR/ Armor in the first few levels to reduce the damage the other lane opponent is doing.

Only downside is that early game he has mana problems. Other than that, he's a freaking monster.

I should add that his shatter (w)'s damage is based on a .6 AP ratio, and is multiplied by 20% of his armor.

Taric;s W isn't a magic resist shred, it's strictly an armor debuff. Additionally, it's not multiplied by 20% of his armor it's flat damage +ap ratio + 20% of his armor.

A few strong top laners:
Darius (low ELO)
Vi (to the point where nerfs were incoming but then people stopped playing her and nerfs never came)
Zed (great late game, can insta-gib any enemy champ w/ ult, although depending on positioning may not make it out alive)

I say Darius in low ELO/ normals because people really don't know how to deal with him. "Oh gosh he used his e better beg riot for a nerf", "OP ult!", ext. Can build tanky/ supp items and still do sustain damage while not letting targets escape.
Still, gets easily kited and has no escapes himself, careful of that.

Vi has a gap closer/ escape/ initiate, ranged harass, ult that ignores CC, a passive shield to block damage, and passive armor shred. Seriously, her kit is ridiculous.
Just don't let the small (15% I believe) speed debuff from her q get you caught, and only charge as long as necessary.

While Zed is my favorite, you can either build him glass cannon or with a bit more survivablity. Keep in mind he gets % of his bonus ad as *EXTRA* ad as he levels his w, and has exceptional long range poke early game, as well a great escape (albeit long cooldown). Still one of the few champs that can legitimately build 2-3 bloodthirsters and not be reported for trolling.
A flash+shadow(secondary)+ult can cover massive distance, keep in mind. Also, if you use your shadow to poke (which is very likely), keep in mind you're able to be ganked w/o an escape, so don't push too hard.

There's plenty other good champs top lane, but those are a simple few.

I'm probably gonna pick up Elise, could mid, jungle, or support with her.

Vi is bad top. Her early game is really weak, and most competent players can deny her for the first 15 or so minutes it takes for her to reach a level where she isn't useless.

Since you're looking for good late game top lanes, Look for decent damage out put and can be built tanky. CC is a big plus.


Riven is also a very good top lane that has an excellent late game.

Sad part is, the teemo was actually building for serial until near end when we just had tons of moneys. The trist on our team decided to leave at ~40min so yay for no adc. Tanky trist just decided fuck all n tanked the towers for her team while hybrid yi killed our fail tanks. Garen had pretty pretty much that same build that entire game, it just got progressively more retarded. Also garen and trist were ksing fucktards, so yay for that as well.

If anyone one's interested, or needs a top laner, I'd like to make a team of 5 for normals, preferably draft but blind works just as well. I dont care what level you are or how good you are, they're normals and it's all about learning how to play different champs for ranked (aside from obviously enjoying yourself) so add me if you'd be interested, I'm on mostly all of the time. I'll be playing top though, that's the only thing I want lol.

I really like playing league non-competitively. People in lower elos have a very toxic attitude about the game. I'm only silver 3 right now, but I've seen the harrassment and toxic attitudes all the way up into gold 1. I still love LoL though, and will probably always be a devoted player.

first. dorans blade for good start. then berserkers graves and then buy some vamp. scepter for life steal, then go for statik shiv. then turn the vamp scept into Bloodthirster. then go for Infinity edge. then go for Phantom dancer. then customize your items at late games. explore then youll learn :D

in ADR runes. i think . the biggest 3 would be Movement speed runes. then the red one = attackspeed . yellow one = armor / health blue = magic resist. :D

I fucking can't take ranked anymore.

Half the time i get fucking retards on my team; the other half of the time i either play poorly, or shit happens.

Case in point; Whenever i pick jungle one of three things happens.

If i pick a FAST early-mid game jungle, i lose late game because my team mates are retarded.

If i pick a LATE GAME jungle, i lose early because the team mates i get are retards and can't fucking lane without dying a bajillion mother fucking times.

The other 10% of the time, i pick a jungle, do great, and have a competent team= i win.

Furthermore, if i DON'T JUNGLE I typically get a SHITTY JUNGLE that does absolutely nothing; if I don't get a bad jungle then i typically get at least one team mates who is worthless.

Case in point; had a fucking game as top lane trundle, we got their base down to three open inhibs.

Then they fucking won.

Why? because we had a 2-12-xx fucking ADC ezreal who did jackshit in all team fights.

I FUCKING CAN'T WIN. FUCK YOU RIOT FOR YOUR GOD AWFUL MATCHMAKING. Good game though, if somehow the teams aren't fucking unbalanced to all hell.

Dota isn't better, it's just less noob friendly so the retards are immediately out, thus the teams are slightly more balanced.

Take some Advil before playing. Take 1 pill before each game, overdose when necessary.

Learn two champs for each role before doing ranked.

Remember it's just a game, and that everyone has bad days. You pointing out them doing poorly won't effect how they play in any way (except likely in a negative way).

Try to get your team to take objectives, state timers on objectives if you know them. A big difference in skill is knowing what the team should be doing as a whole.

Before blaming others for why you lost, try to think what you could have done better to improve your individual game. Even if your lane is losing (lost) remember that it's a team game. If you lose your lane, hopefully your jungler got the other lanes to win, and hopefully your team is stronger as a whole as a result.

Try to duo que with someone to minimize the chances of getting stuck with a troll/afk/bad team etc.

Remember that if YOU are better than where your MMR is, you should win more games than you lose.

Finally, some games are not winnable.

The best piece of LoL advice: Use the mute button! :D It saves you from having to read spam and harrassment. Just don't think about troll players. They obviously are just toxic, and want to make people upset for their own pleasure. Just mute them. You wont get banned for not talking to a toxic person.

We have legitimate conversations here! Sometimes. In addition, I just can't top lane. I'm a horrible top laner. And jungler. I prefer mid, but I can bot or ADC as well.

If you're playing ranked, get 30 wins in normals first. Get a full rune page, and know how to play at least three different god damn roles.

If you get placed n bronze, that is retardville, and it ideas to carry with any tanky top, or if you're good at jungle GANK and get your retards more fed than the enemy retards, or play something like hecarim who can carry.

The mute button is very useful, if someone starts harassing, ignore them and then report them later.

Adc and support do have valid reasons to blame each other.... If one is just bad, or the two styles of playing don't mesh, then the lane will go to shit, and its both player's fault.

Also, remember the basics.
1 don't die. Dying is bad, and unless its going to get you 2 or more assists, don't die.
2 Last hit minions. Don't push the fucking lane ( unless you know what you're doing) . Pushing makes you more vulnerable to ganks and makes it harder for your jungle 2 gank. Plus, last its are gold, and gold wins games.

3 prioritize objectives over kills, but again, don't die over them.
4 ward. Just fucking do it. Dear god. Or, don't cry at jungle when u get banked and die.

5 kill stealing isn't as issue. If they die and you don't its a win. Remember the goal of the game is to break the enemy nexus, not to get kills.

I don't play all day long so 300+ takes a while. I do have a full rune page, but just runes for ADC (hence my comment) I'm working on AP runes so I can start mid more.
It's possible to jungle with ADC rune page but it's hella hard without movespeed quints. Oh and the amount of wins you have doesn't say anything, everyone starts small and gets better from there.

My friend's jungle page consists of AS, AR, Scaling MR, and more AS. It starts him with something like +20% AS and a decent defense. He often starts with a smite-less blue and rushes their red. Really screws over the opponent's jungler. If I'm going to help him, I play someone like Nidalee or Caitlin. Put a few traps all over their jungle; it gets in some free damage while simultaneously revealing the position of potential ganks.

He also mains Diana, Shyvana, Vi, and Nocturne. He ends up with scary jungle times.

the 300 wins was just a ball park of getting enough IP for full rune pages. I'm assuming people play completely for free.

Also, move speed quints are good for all lanes, so with very little exception, i run ms no matter what role i decide to take.

Love the new jungle patch. Really helps out that now lanes can't get a head start by stealing some jungle xp to get an unfair advantage.
Still, seems like it's slowing clears by a few seconds. Counterjungling's probably going to be easier in that sense, I suppose. Time to go back to nunu jungle.

Frost mallet and BotRK are some nice items on him. Gives him all the chasing ability he needs, although the Mallet would help make him tankier more so than the BotRK.
Throw in some good damage items with that and you're pretty well off.
Although keep in mind you're playing nocturne, so you'll probably have top lane be the dedicated tanker. That, and frost mallet costs so damn much now.

Yea i typically get an early phage just for that gank potential, but unless im feeling super squish, I dont typically get mallet until late in the game

im only at a like... 50% proficiency with that skill. its difficult to tell when the right time is to use it, or if its even going to be used. Like zeds ult, can block that no problem, but skills like rammus taunt or fiddle fear are difficult/impossible for me to time
