The idea of this thread is similar to that of the real informational brokering thread, except focusing on recipes or general food information. The recipes here should be family, unless someone requests a specific one, to stop it from getting filled with linked recipes, remember people can look up recipes online anytime, but lets share our own great family ones.
Also the idea of using bumps as tables of contents is great, so use that if you are so inclined ^_^.

I'll start out with my British Grandma's delicious pancake recipe.

Ingredients:
Cup flour
Half teaspoon baking sode
Quarter Teaspoon salt
Cup Buttermilk
One Egg

Directions:
Mix dry ingredients in a medium bowl
Put buttermilk in a medium bowl (If it's a small batch just use the measuring cup)
Separate the egg white into a small bowl and drop the yolk in the buttermilk.
Mix the dry, then pour in the buttermilk
Blend the egg white to stiff peaks
Fold in eggs
Cook in a pan with preheated oil (cast iron works well) making sure to wait as long as possible before flipping. DON'T PRESS, you will lose the fluffiness from the egg white.

Tips: Don't stir to much, and make sure you are ready to cook before whipping the whites. Chocolate chips are great and if you take berries, water, and sugar, heat it on the stove to a sauce, you get a great cheap syrup. Cut bananas mixed into the batter make the pancakes more filling, and so can save money because you have to eat less to get full ^_^

I love to make spaghetti with a white sauce.
Ingredients:
1/2 onion (diced)
1 stick of butter (Kerrygold's is great to use)
salt
pepper
ham
parsley chopped
linguine, penne, spaghetti (any pasta will work)

Steps:

For the sauce:

1. Chop up the 1/2 onion and put it into a bowl with salt, pepper, and butter (not too much. You'll have to use your judgement on this one)and cook either in a microwave or with a skillet.
2.Put in the ham, parsley leaves, and cream. Then cook in the microwave.

For the pasta:
1. Put the pasta in a steamer with oil and salt and pepper and cook until soft.
2. Strain the pasta.
3. Melt butter into the pasta and salt and pepper it.

Throw the sauce and pasta together to get a delicious meal

Caution:Recipe may be wrong so if you try it don't complain to me.

My family loves cream soups. One of the best things about them is you can use just about any vegetable you have on hand. Plus, it is great on cold days. Here's our vegetable cream soup recipe at its simplest.

For a ~4 liter/quart pot of soup: Chop and cook your vegetable (I recommend boiling five kilograms [ten pounds] of potato, steaming a head of broccoli, or lightly frying 450 grams [16 ounces] of mushrooms). Save any liquid from cooking. Melt a stick of butter in the pot. Quickly stir in a few spoons of flour, cooking until the colour darkens and the mixture, called roux, is thick. There should be just a little bit more butter than flour. Be sure to break up any flour lumps, they can ruin an otherwise good soup. Optionally add a little bit of salt to the roux. Pour milk or cream into the pot until it is about half full. Stir quickly to dissolve the roux. Add your vegetable. Fill the remainder of the pot with the broth from cooking the vegetable and/or chicken stock. Keep stirring the soup, until it is at a low boil. During this time, add some spices and/or extras if you want. This is all according to taste. Melting some cheese and stirring in crumbled bacon works wonders in a potato soup, but it might not work good paired with mushroom soup. If your soup is too thin, add a bit of cornstarch; too thick, add more milk, broth, or stock. If you have leftovers, you'll probably want to thin your soup again with some milk when reheating. This recipe is sized for a large family, so be warned.
