Fwaah~ I wanna know everyone's traditional food!
I would like to post this one, though. It's Gado-gado (spell it with Japanese/Indonesian spelling manner).
It mixed vegetables such as cabbage, spinach, cucumber, lettuce (cucumber & lettuce aren't boiled) , fried tofu and tempe (made from soybean), sliced boiled potato, kang-kung, bean sprouts, and peeled & sliceg boiled eggs.
Then pour/blend peanut sauce (sambal kacang) onto/with the vegetables. The peanut sauce made from ground fried peanuts (kidney beans may be substituted for a richer taste), coconut sugar/palm sugar (can substitute brown sugar), chillies (according to taste), lime juice, terasi (dried shrimp paste), tamarind water, water to dilute.
This food always served with some kind of crackers, usually tapioca crackers, or also with emping (Indonesian style fried crackers, which are made from melinjo). Sometimes we add rice or lontong (rice cake wrapped in banana leaf).
