Baking can be a science, but professionals know how to make it look like an art. Now you can too, with these simple tips to help you bake more moist cupcakes and lighter, flakier pie crusts. With help, you'll never burn the cookies again.

The Kitch'n, a great cooking and baking site, has a rundown of 10 great baking tips that can help you avoid some common mistakes when it comes to making delicious desserts. For one, they walk you through how to quickly separate eggs without breaking the yolks, a trick some experts have trouble with.

If you've ever started to make cookies only to find your brown sugar was rock hard, you can also use these helpful tips to keep it soft and ready to use. For example, they suggest the tried and true "slice of bread in the bag" method that most people's mothers and grandmothers used. They also propose a slice of apple or some marshmallows, which do the same thing: lets the dry sugar draw the moisture out to stay soft.

What are some of your favorite baking tips? Perhaps you have a better way to soften butter, or an easier way to tell when a cake is finished baking? Share your tips in the comments.

idk if anyone else knows this but i just heard this on the radio, but when you get flour, (i know i used to do this) you just dip the cup into the flour bag, that actually compresses the flour into the cup (it made sense after i heard it lol) and makes your baked goods denser. >> now i know why haha
oh and also putting in liquids before solids before mixing.

Off topic, but I like how Xion ascended the position of newsbringer and just became our information outlet to everything in general.

Nice of you to take time out of your day to keep us well informed.

Well, I don't bake often anymore, but I guess if anyone has a problem, I might be able to help '^') I know a lot of dollars come onto this board and then talk about disasters while cooking on other threads.
