For those wanting to read a true classic, perhaps I could recommend this blast from the past. Created in the mid ninety's, it was the first published work of Jhonen Vasquez, the same guy who created Invader Zim. The art is all black and white, while the content is dark and rather angsty. One could say that it's fairly typical for nihilistic goth culture of the era. If you find this interesting, one can find used copies on amazon of the collected edition. For what was a fairly short run of the actual comics, it's a relatively long read due to the amount of text and events going on in each section. The detail is impressive given how it's all hand drawn, no digital art here. Much of what occurs is semi self contained, often Johnny boy goes about his business yelling, or otherwise conversing with himself, only to become agitated by someone to which he often responds by brutally murdering them, usually quite comedically. Genre wise one could classify the comics as a dark comedy. So, if you don't like a bit of gore and an admittedly irreverent, apathetic, comically depressing outlook which certainly tends to permeate throughout, it could be worthwhile for you to skip this one. Then again, if you are in fact the sort of individual who thinks they'd enjoy such tantalizing pleasures then I'm fairly sure you will find this a delightfully bloody romp XD
