Ever wondered about the origins of Deadpool or Polaris? Perhaps curious about Star Wars’ “Shattered Empire” or X-Men’s “Days of Future Past” story arcs? To be frank, though I have always wanted to read all of my favorite comic book characters’ stories, I cannot be bothered to collect the huge amount of comic books that are out there (my personal lame excuse is adulthood). Thankfully, the Eligible Monster Team have been diligent in their comic book reading and are creating series of videos on a Youtube channel called Comicstorian where they explain what is going on for comic-ignoramuses such as myself.

Comicstorian contains videos that explain character origins, story and film reviews, and a personal favorite: complete stories. In complete stories the Eligible Monster Team narrate summarised story arcs. The summaries are read with a dramatic flair that recalls children book readings – couple that with assorted comic book panels for visual accompaniment and you have thoroughly entertaining and engaging videos.

Some of the videos has made me want to collect some of the stories. For example, Comicstorian has a series of videos revolving around a Trilogy of Deadpool killing the Marvel Universe, literature, and then himself. As you may have known already, Deadpool is a Marvel character who breaks the fourth wall and talks to the readers directly. In this arc, Deadpool is lead to madness, making him kill the Marvel universe one character at a time, which leads him to kill a bunch of characters of literature such as Don Quixote, and the many versions of himself in a multi-verse. It is a thoroughly gripping story that made me want to buy the comic books (will visit favorite bookstores this weekend).
