I was absolutely shocked when browsing the threads to find there wasn't one for Natsume Yuujinchou. This is my absolute favorite series (more so the anime; which has four beautifully crafted seasons), and is about a boy named Natsume Takashi who has had the strange ability to see youkai since he was born. Keeping this ability a secret has now become a heavy burden for him and has made his life difficult. This begins to change when Takashi inherits his grandmother's "Book of Friends." He discovers that she, Natsume Reiko, shared the same ability as him and starts to understand why he was always targeted by both good and bad youkai. After learning the true meaning behind the Book of Friends, which allows him to manipulate the spirits listed within its pages, Natsume undertakes a journey with his bodyguard, the infamous spirit Madara, to free the spirits of their contracts with Reiko. A brilliant read, a brilliant watch, a brilliant story one has to see for themselves.

I started reading this at some point between season 2 and 3 of the anime and got to about chapter 30, but then when the anime started again I decided to stop and watch it instead. I haven't gone back to it since, so I'm very behind.

The manga is a bit different from the anime, as is usually the case, and because of the simpler art style I think it's better at getting across the melancholy of certain moments. It's really good and I should start catching up.

I remember searching the manga section in the library and saw Natsume's Book of Friends (Or as I saw: Book of Friends). I read the description and put it back. A few days later, I decide to pick it up and read it. I LOVED IT! I check out the volumes and it became my favorite manga series. (Now it's my second favorite. Right behind Pandora Hearts.) The art is amazing! The 'cover art' for chapter 10 (in volume 3) just blew me away! I really LOVE this series and can't wait to read more!
