Persepolis is an autobiographical graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. It depicts the early childhood to young adult years of the author during and after the Islamic Revolution. The graphic novel was originally in French and published in 2000 but had grown widely popular and translated into several languages including English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, and Swedish. In 2007 an animated film adaptation of the comics debuted in a film festival.

I read the graphic novel a while back and found it to be very interesting. Personally, I enjoyed reading it and now I want to know how many of you have read it and your thoughts on it.

Bumping before this becomes a dust thread. This sounds very interesting however I haven't read it. Sounds like something an English teacher would make me read, not that that's bad or anything.

I may not have read this for a class, but it is riveting and I would recommend anyone interested in topics within the graphic novel to read it if they ever get the chance. I was actually lucky enough to find it in my school's library though I have no idea where one could get this.

I came across a movie version of this at my library recently. It actually looks pretty interesting, so next time I'll pick it up.
