I don't know how this is possible

My Top 5, in no particular order, with a little explanation about why I think they are awesome.

Kaiji: The only show that managed to make me so tense I was literally pulling my hair in the last episodes. The gambles are long, sometimes very long (10+ episodes of pachinko), but manages to keep you engaged.

Serial Experiments Lain: Had to rewatch it a few times to get it, but hell it's scary how well it predicted the influence of the internet. And in the late 90's, no less! Other weird sci-fi anime that almost made it here where Ergo Proxy and Texhnolize, feel free to check them out.

FMA Brotherhood: Very well made, good characters and awesome fights. I thought about putting HunterxHunter here, but I think it has too many pauses between all the awesome parts, while FMA just keeps getting better and better as it goes on without really stopping.

Barakamon: It just makes you feel happy. Great to see if you are feeling down, it's guaranteed to brighten your day.

Evangelion: The anime that made me love anime. So much drama, such great fights... So much has been said about it that I just have one thing to add: Don't pretend that you understood the TV ending on your first watch, because that's a lie unless you have a psychology PhD.

C-Control: The Money of Soul and Possibility
It was a really short series, and my friends who have seen it all either say that it was "alright, but could have been better," or "you really like that?" C-Control is honestly one of those animes that I will watch at least once a year, the reason being that I relate to the two main characters: the confused 19 year old college student who's focusing on his future and how to best achieve it, and the older gentleman who wants to live in the now and achieved his position in life by casting aside who he wanted to be in order to become something better. It's thought provoking and really makes me think.

Wolf's Rain
Steve Conte's smooth voice in the opening song "Stray" gets me every time...while I admit that the show has its moments where it feels like it's lacking, there is something about it that I find gripping.

Ghost Hound
Scientific, mildly complicated, and tends to shift from multiple narratives given that the story is about three main characters, I actually did find this show interesting. It deals a lot with the concepts of Out of Body Experience, psychology and the workings of the mind, including memories. The characters do take a moment to get used to, but in the end it starts to work out as you find that they're not entirely one-dimensional, and do have dynamic character capabilities.
