Gangsta. is the adaptation of a seinen action manga by Kohske. It has an interesting gritty setting, but depending on how many similar things you've watched/read, it can feel a bit typical. Though it has a somewhat muddled start, the source material is solid and I'm expecting the anime to deliver the same quality. If nothing else it'll definitely satisfy your need for a mature action series.

The series started airing on July 1st and will be 12 episodes long.

Nico looks somehow older in the anime. Doesn't he look older? He does. Though he's supposed to be in his mid thirties or something so I guess that's ok.

Sure, I noticed the animation wasnt as gritty as I wanted it, like the style in the manga, and was fairly smooth. And yeah, Gangsta definitely is slow moving to the point that I had to reread the entire manga four times just to remember shit. Now I'm not quite sure where it'll be on my anime list.

Speaking of rereading I spent half a day yesterday rereading it lmao and there were really things I forgot. But even if it's not super plotty it's still so engrossing for me. I love the main trio so much ;;

and nah, all media has trends and cycles and while I don't generally like a lot of current trends in anime, there's almost always a great show or two each season. I've also only routinely seasonally watched anime since 2012, so I have no ground to complain about how anime's "going to shit". There's bad and good all the time; people just don't remember the old bad because it's not noteworthy.

I'm less and less interested in this anime with each new episode :T Read the manga, it's got better art, better pacing and overall a better feel to it (meaning it doesn't make me want to take a nap).

This anime is awesome. I've already read the thirty-six chapters that are available online. I even got my sister watch it with me and she doesn't watch a lot of anime. She kept asking me about episode 5 because it was delayed.
The OP song is really good too, it's by Stereo Dive Foundation, it reminds me a bit of 3OH3.

Yea, it gets a bit bloody, but I wouldn't call it straight up gore. Most of the guys use guns or swords to kill people and there are a lot of dead bodies it's definitely not for the squeamish. Also there's prostitutes and drugs involved as well.

oh man, "impressed" and "animated" are pretty poor words to use together when describing this show

the lower production quality was bearable at first because its focus was decent and it had (and still has) promise, but episode 5 was jumbled all the hell over the place. really weak.

not sure if I'll last the full season with this one

I was a bit reluctant trying this out one. Have watched two episodes so far and I just don't get the rave about it. The characters are interesting, but I'm not sure if I could bite with the whole super soldier thing. Will probably just read the manga.

I put this show on hold till it finishes. But once its done i will start up again. Nonetheless i think its good. But i have some other shows on my watch list now
