>>9Originally, I figured other's would copy the FL convention thread idea and make convention thread for their State's as well. That way each State thread could have a convention thread to link to that specifically discusses conventions, and all that comes with them, in their area.
Imagine the massive clutter and chaos if ALL conventions across the entire US were discussed in one thread; in my opinion, that would be ridiculous and ineffective. At the same time, I can see how having a convention thread for each State that hosts conventions could clutter up the board. So then: Cluttered Thread VS Cluttered Board. In regards to the board, although this would create many threads, pertinent threads would still be bumped, so I believe we could keep it under control; however, keeping that all organized within a single thread would be extremely difficult!
I would suggest to have a board solely dedicated to conventions, BUT I don't think we have enough con-goers posting to justify that and it would be much like the Sports Board. I could be wrong about that though...
Breaking the threads down by year was not as thoroughly thought out as it should have been. I'm sure there will be cons in coming years as well, that is obvious. I figured tracking the cons, potential attendees, information, etc would be easier if broken down by year on top of being broken down by State, but you raise a good point: Is that necessary?
This probably needs further discussion. I'll post a thread in suggestions for all members to discuss this further.
NOTE: I attend conventions all across the country. I flew halfway across the US four times in 2011 to attend the cons that were too far for me to drive.
