Upcoming conventions in Florida 2012 (14)

I noticed a thread about potable met ups at Florida cons but they were all for 2011 so I decoded to make one for 2012. As far as I know as of now I will be atending Orlando Anime day 5, Metrocon, Megacon, and AFO. I also know of Florida Anime Experience, Khaotic Kon, and Florida Supercon.

A little side note for Florida Anime Experience, Darrel Guilbeau (the english voice of Mikado) will be attending http://www.floridaanime.com/archives/318

Shouldn't this be in Countries in the Florida section? that way all Floridians looking for fellow statesmen can find it.

Not really. I've created a FL convention thread in random before. It is a good idea to link this thread in the Florida Thread in Countries, but posting this information only in that thread wouldn't be so effective. It'll easily get lost in the thread as people reply with their location in FL and so on and so forth.

You don't think so? What about an upcoming convention thread that is not limited to a specific area then? I just see problems with deciding that convention info can only be posted as a reply to an already existing thread in countries. We should probably decide what to do about this before it becomes an issue.

I'm going to Orlando Anime Day, Megacon, and Knightrokon(Aizens voice actor will be there!). Maybe Anime Festival Orlando and Florida Anime Experience.

I have yet to see a national convention thread. And you can put that countries tooo. Not all the dollars live in Florida... Florida cons can go in the florida thread in countries.

Why do these have to only be in Florida? All other American states have conventions, other countries have conventions, I, personally, am going to Anime Central in Chicago. That's in Illinois... Not Florida.

I don't see why you have to waste a thread by just talking about 2012 cons either.... I'm sure there will be cons in 2013 too.

These are the things I see wrong with your logic...Ehh I mean thread. Although the second one is more of a pet peeve.

Originally, I figured other's would copy the FL convention thread idea and make convention thread for their State's as well. That way each State thread could have a convention thread to link to that specifically discusses conventions, and all that comes with them, in their area.

Imagine the massive clutter and chaos if ALL conventions across the entire US were discussed in one thread; in my opinion, that would be ridiculous and ineffective. At the same time, I can see how having a convention thread for each State that hosts conventions could clutter up the board. So then: Cluttered Thread VS Cluttered Board. In regards to the board, although this would create many threads, pertinent threads would still be bumped, so I believe we could keep it under control; however, keeping that all organized within a single thread would be extremely difficult!

I would suggest to have a board solely dedicated to conventions, BUT I don't think we have enough con-goers posting to justify that and it would be much like the Sports Board. I could be wrong about that though...

Breaking the threads down by year was not as thoroughly thought out as it should have been. I'm sure there will be cons in coming years as well, that is obvious. I figured tracking the cons, potential attendees, information, etc would be easier if broken down by year on top of being broken down by State, but you raise a good point: Is that necessary?

This probably needs further discussion. I'll post a thread in suggestions for all members to discuss this further.

NOTE: I attend conventions all across the country. I flew halfway across the US four times in 2011 to attend the cons that were too far for me to drive.

It's not just conventions in Florida, I just happen to be in Florida so that's why I posted it, if you live in another state/country and want one for that state/country than post one yourself however you see fit.
