Basically where I started reading was from 2007 onwards, because I heard the writer was good. I started with
Thor V3 that resumes the story after a few year's break. This time it's after Ragnarok, which is basically the end of days in norse mythology. It's a good starting point. It has 12 issues and then goes back to original numbering with Thor #600 and so on.
And that's pretty much all I'm familiar with, though I'm planning on going further back at some point. Oh yeah, there's also
The Mighty Thor which is Thor's series at the moment and runs in parallel with JiM.
