aldnoah.zero has its flaws but definitely is worth a watch but I havent seen that first one though. Currently I'm bingeing on all the gundam series I'm starting on iron-blooded orphans and about half way through then i'll be starting from the '79 one and work my way up from there.

Oh yeah and for a recomendation: 'Space battleship tiramisu' is hillarious but also has some pretty cool animation and mechas. Its about the day-to-day life of a reclusive pilot. each episode is gut-busting hillarious though each episode is only 7 minutes. I think of it as more of an animated comic strip really but definitly great for an intermission when watching a serious anime or need a dose of laughter.
