>>4 Baccano is superior to Durarara in every single way and one of the reasons is because all the different perspectives of different characters are very important and give the audience more information about the incident every time they switch to another point of view. Baccano is good because the plot is well structured and you can tell that the story was written with a lot thought put into it. Many times when watching this anime, after watching a certain perspective of a character on 'the incident', I was left in impressed thinking 'Wow. This is really clever!' Moreover, the classic jazzy opening theme is very catchy and gives the audience a great feel for the setting of the anime, making them more engaged in the story. It also has good characters with interesting backstories which may elicit hype from the audience after seeing screentime for some of them. Additionally, it's a fairly serious crime solving anime but with good humour implemented well. It's obviously not perfect but it's really damn good, and way better than durarara at that.
Durarara, on the other hand, does show many different perspectives for particular events but many of those sidestories or perspectives exist just as a lazy plot device or just added for the sake of 'on-the-spot' character development for a character you barely even know. Durarara also has a very vague plot with so many things happening due to the fact that the anime shows events all around the city which may make the watchers lose pace. It is very arguable to call durarara a 'mess' in certain factors of the anime like structure and plot. Also, some of the characters are just plain 'bad'. I don't mean 'the bad guys' but they are literally badly designed. There are no hints at all to hidden personalities in certain characters and 'plot twist' is a pathetic excuse. If you want a plot twist, at least don't make the possibility seem impossible or out-of-mind beforehand. I'm not hating in durarara in any way or saying it's shit, but there are many flaws shown in it which Baccano does not have.
