I believe this is where to post this thread.

The anime industries are going bankrupt because we're watching it from streaming sites. If you can, buy the dvds of it. If not
We'll probably have no animes

Nah.
Stream all you want.

Anime is fucking expensive. If you can afford it it's all good, but personally, if I was to buy all the anime I could I'd see onlu a couple every year. Maybe

I do not wish to offend you but your opinion is pretty one-sided.
The anime industry does not exactly make a ton of money lately, the sales for the summer season were abysmal and the bankruptcy of Studio Manglobe, one of the most unique and creative studios out there are worrying, but the industry always had its up and downs.
While on the one hand Anime DVDs are ridiculously expensive and in countries other than the US streaming sites are rare, on the other hand I believe Neiges opinion to be very difficult - sure, many people do not have the money and sometimes not the opportunity to buy DVDs, but isn't it to easy to take the easy way and do not pay anything? Personally I would love to subscribe to Funimation or Hulu but region-locked streaming won't let me. :/
At the same time I think the situation right now is also the industries fault because most fans prefer streaming and digital anime over expensive DVDs.

As a German I can only advise everybody who wants to support the industry without spending too much money to buy DVDs from the UK, in comparison to the US and Germany the prices are very low.

I really hope that this is just one of the many downs of the industry and that sales will improve - at least the fall season is pretty awesome so far. :)

Paid streaming services are a great idea, but I don't have (nor am i able to acquire) a credit card, so bad luck I guess.
As for DVD's, I refuse to pay 10€ an episode. Seriously, I am willing to buy the shows for a reasonable amount, but as a pupil, I couldn't afford more than a twelve episode series each month

why anime is so expensive?
because producing it takes a lot of money.
an average anime with 13 episode takes a 2 million dollars.to create :)

>>6 Animes are shown on TV. So are other TV shows.

Animes cost 100k-300k per episode, and real TV dramas/shows cost 2million per episode.

Both can be streamed for free online.

So why is the Anime industry the only industry going bankrupt?

Probably less about the fans and more about economy
I heard from my teacher that Japan's population is slowly aging because of low birth rate, so that might be a factor too. Older generations tend to not invest in enterprises targeting young people
*purely speculation, making theories in my mind since I'm bored*

actually the big problem their is the birth rate in japan
because of few kids in japan . the anime goods that support the productions of anime's is going to bankrupt.

The thing is though the animes are expensive because we don't buy them. And the more expensive it gets the less we buy them.
The most bought animes are about 10,000 DVDs. And that's considered a failure

For comparison, for most studios sales under 9000 are a failure. The highest selling anime 2015 sold 7400 (Charlotte).

And if you want a source that Manglobe is an amazing studio, just watch Samurai Champloo. ;)
