I'm not seeing a thread for this, so I'll just go right on ahead--
THEY'RE MAKING A PARASYTE ANIME AND LIVE-ACTION FILMS!! ohfmh- I'm excited.
The story was originally published from 1990-1995 and tells the story of a regular guy in high school, Shinichi, who comes into contact with a not-so-regular alien. Many other aliens like it found their way onto this planet and into the brains of any creature they could find; most of which are humans. They feed on people mostly, and can manipulate their host's body into monstrous forms. Unlike those fully taken over, however, Shinichi managed to cut off his parasite while it was mid-way to his brain. Now coexisting, together they deal with the new way of life in the parasite-filled world.
It's a psychological horror/drama with bits of comedy and romance that fit together really well.
The new adaptions show some different character designs than from the manga, but I guess that's expected with how old the original is...
Gonna give a warning for: blood, body horror, gore, death, and just generally nasty stuff if you're gonna watch either of those or check out the manga. That aside, IT'S GREAT. And I hope the anime and films are just as good.
