Anyone heard of this anime, I highly recommend this to the ghost story lovers, it's a really good anime.
Ghost Hunt follows the ghost hunting adventures of Mai Taniyama, a first-year high school student who becomes involved with the Shibuya Psychic Research center (SPR) and its young manager, Kazuya Shibuya. Mai nicknames Kazuya Shibuya "Naru" because of his narcissistic (narushisuto) attitude, and the nickname is generally adopted by all those who come to eventually work with SPR: Buddhist monk Houshou Takigawa; shrine maiden Ayako Matsuzaki; celebrity teen psychic Masako Hara; and Catholic priest John Brown.

I watched this at night and scared myself shitless. The ghost cases were extremely interesting and had me glued to the screen.

This definitely is one of my favorite animes despite its age, as I've said elsewhere on this site.

The characters may jokingly represent popular religious figures, but their personalities are fairly unique and avoided major stereotypes and anime archetypes (excluding Masako, who has some redeeming features of her own regardless). Even the side characters are very unique and have great characterization for the time that they're introduced.

The anime is very episodic with aspects that roll over episode to episode (such as the main character's increasing psychic knowledge and powers). It goes case by case with each case being a few episodes each. It has a bit of a slow start with the first case being aimed to introduce all the characters. After that, it picks up dramatically with each case, the violence and drama getting worse as time goes on (in exchange for the funny romance the show starts out with slowly dissipating).

Even though it has romantic aspects and jokes, it's more for comic relief. My favorite part about Ghost Hunt is that ^. It managed to have funny romance while completely avoiding the fanservice bandwagon animes have been jumping on for years.

A lot of the stuff the main character does is awkward but entirely realistic, and while there are some circumstantial situations, they're never something that I couldn't imagine someone finding themselves in.

The plot itself is great, imo, although the last episode fell a little flat for me (I'm pretty sure they had to cut the anime short due to production costs; the manga went on much farther, and the light novels went even farther than the manga). I wish the anime had a greater following tbh. It's a lot better than it gets credit for.

Technical stuff: The art and animation are average by today's standards, though I personally enjoy the creepy art. Sound track is, in my opinion, fabulous. Even now, I still listen to the creepy instrumental that their simple OP is known for.

The best way to watch this anime is at night and in the dark. Once you get into the atmosphere, it's really hard to stop, especially in the middle of a case.

The dub is a decent quality (and I'm not even a fan of dubs), though I of course still recommend the subbed version. (Sub note: if I'm remembering right, the fansubs of this anime were actually a lot better than the official subs. I heard Funimation messed up a lot on this one but haven't compared them myself.)

Both versions can be found on YouTube and most anime streaming sites.

Hopefully someone will decide to take a look at this anime. It's a lot of fun and is one of the most original animes of this genre that I've watched.

I remember seeing this show on Netflix a year back, I wasn't able to finish the show because it was taken off. I forgot about it since I couldn't find it... but now I am sad that I didn't finish it.
