I tried watching this anime, it didn't really do it for me! I felt like it combined a good anime (Another) with a terrible anime (Kamisama Dolls). I only watched the first four episodes but I got bored with it and started Steins;Gate (wasn't expecting much, but I loved it! Now I'm looking forward to Robotics;Notes ^~^) Is there a good reason to go back to this anime?

This anime literally topped in my fav. anime list. Now, before anybody has their respective mouths shouting at me on 'how I have bad tastes' or 'just hadn't watched enough anime yet', I would like to say my opinion on this firstly. What I really love most about Kyoukai no Kanata was the ending, pretty much. A happy closing that brought tears to my eyes. I also love how they add all these comical moments that made me laugh quietly and chuckle about, and that rarely happens in other anime nowadays. Adding the spice with the characters, the supernatural, and plot, made me really got into it. In short, totally love this!

Please someone explain to me the ending! I really loved the anime but I didn't understand the end at all!

Why does everyone love this?
I wanted to the whole time, but it was so wildly inconsistent, and the cons beat out the pros more often than not.

Character development? What character development? They have us no reason to care about them or what was going on, maybe aside from Akihito, but even then it had more to do with him narrating it all. The antagonist...I mean...what?

Though really, it's writing was the biggest issue. When it focused on comedy or drama solely, it worked (see ep6 or ep11 for examples of each), but when it tried to blend the two, each came out half-assed. The fetish jokes stop being funny fairly quickly, guys. Come on. And to the people who're like "I love this, but I didn't get the last episode, can someone explain it?"

No. No one can because just like various points throughout the show, it didn't make any sense.

5/10; saved by some really fluid (though often not well-directed) animation, fantastic art, and the occasional brilliant moment.

now enough of that experiment, KyoAni. Don't bother with a season 2, just gimme my Chuuni.

In other words, there's no problem for you to not like this anime. But to accuse of us in a way and saying negative things directly to the people or the anime is completely pointless.

The point I was trying to get across was that "entertaining" doesn't make a show objectively good. Did I like Kyoukai? Yeah, a little bit. Did I think it was entertaining? Indeed, I did. But do I think it's a good show? Can't really say that I do.

Liking something and objectively saying something is good are two totally different things, and you seem to be under the impression that I think liking Kyoukai is bad. That's not the case. I just don't see how it could be described as "good" (in terms of it being well-written, well-directed, memorable, invigorating, avoiding tropes, etc.)

So I ask again, do you like Kyoukai for any reason other than "it's entertaining" or is that all?

I think this anime was pretty good, but it's not really perfect either. I felt like the pacing was sort of weird. Really slow at the start and then rushed near the end, but it didn't have the regular amount of 13 episodes, so that might be the reason. Anyway, the characters all seemed a bit dry... just adding a glasses fetish doesn't automatically make a character interesting. I give it a 7/10. It's pretty good to look at with it being made by KyoAni, but don't expect it to have a huge lasting effect.
