The city of Stern Bild is protected by corporate superheroes known as NEXT, who fight crime while promoting their sponsors on the popular show “HERO TV.” Veteran hero Wild Tiger relies on his years of experience and instincts to fight crime, but his tendency to destroy public property for the sake of protecting the lives of the innocent has earned him the nickname “Crusher for Justice.” Now, under orders from his new employer, Wild Tiger finds himself forced to team up with Barnaby Brooks Jr., a rookie with an attitude.

Tiger and Bunny is an interesting twist on the superheroes genre, what with the corporate sponorships and integrated real life advertising. Aside from the more serious turn it takes towards the end though, it's a mostly light-hearted and fun ride. And I mean that in the best way.

In many aspects T&B stick pretty close to what you'd expect from a (super)hero type show, it's good old-fashioned stuff, the good guys are good, they put bad guys away, protect the public and so on. There are some places though where it stands out, the reality TV idea being one of them and the very charismatic cast, in my opinion, the other. Kotetsu in particular is an interesting choice for protagonist. Being in his thirties and a single father, he's pretty different from the teenage MCs you find in most action/sci-fi anime.

There are two movies following the series: Tiger & Bunny - The Beginning is based on the first couple of episodes and doesn't have many new things to offer, but The Rising is supposed to be a sequel, so I'm looking forward to what it has in store. It's set for a February 2014 release.

Since the other thread seems to have disappeared into the void.

The Rising came out on DVD/BD on July 4th and even though I think it's supposed to have English subtitles, I can't find a nice download :(

Why has no one else talked more about this anime? It's really good. I want a Season 2; the first season ended at a cliffhanger.... Or, if that second movie is supposed to be a sequel, then I hope they'll touch up on the unanswered questions about Ouroboros.

>>4 I would have loved a second season so much ;^; I don't have super high expectations for this last movie, but I hope it wraps some things up.

Yeah, me too.

I haven't actually seen the first movie. Is it really just a recap of the first few episodes?

>>6 Yeah pretty much, just with some extra/different scenes. It's still worth checking out if you have the time.

I was waiting for an hq download but I got impatient so I made do.

THE RISING WAS SO MUCH FUN.

The thing you need to know is that unfortunately conclusions to the plot threads left hanging at the end of the anime are not among the things you're gonna find in this movie. Once you get over that you're good to go. Everything that was nice and touching in the series makes its way into this movie. And though some questions aren't answered you definitely get closure when it comes to the characters. There are actually a lot of really nice character moments! The heart of T&B, its pleasently optimistic take on (super)heroes, and all the things that made it so enjoable in the first place are all there. This franchise never fails to make me smile.
