Pokémon Origins is a Japanese anime television special based on Nintendo's Pokémon franchise. Unlike the on-going television series featuring Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu, this special features the setting and characters from the original video games Pokémon Red and Blue, such as main character Red and his neighbor and rival Green (known as "Blue" internationally). It was broadcast on TV Tokyo on October 2, 2013, ten days before the release of the X and Y video games,and will be streamed internationally on Nintendo's Pokémon TV service from November 15, 2013.

After watching the first episode, I can honestly say this is a hndred times better than the normal series.It follows (as said above) the Gen I games and for me it is very nostalgic. It is also just brilliantly done, the animation is top quality and the voice actors are half decent. The fight scenes have also improved alot. Most of the episodes are online and here is a link to the first episode. Of course support Nintendo and the production companies as much as you can if you stream everything.

I really just appreciate the animation now, it's really good, plus, seeing the first generation just makes me feel really nostalgic in seeing them. :)

Was planning to marathon this tonight but as soon as "and now I'm in Lavender Town" kicked off episode 2 I was like "NOPENOPENOPE. NOT THIS. NOT TONIGHT. I LIKE SLEEPING."

Show is good so far.

I wish they made the anime based on the manga,but i like it so far,better than the watching ash one,red is much more awesome

Having finished it now, I'm glad they emphasized the 4 parts they did, but it shouldn't be taken for anything other than what it is: a Gen1 fanservice (feels weird using that term without sexual intent) with a random Gen6 reference thrown in at the end.

The battle animation in this is really cool though. Even original Pokemon had choppy cuts between the trainer shouting an attack and the Pokemon taking turns doing them. The battles felt so natural in this, it was such an improvement.

also did anyone notice the wall repairing itself in the Red vs. Green battle in Episode 4? I always wondered how gyms and battling arenas were kept in perfect shape with Pokemon getting slammed into the walls, floors, and/or ceilings all the time.

oh and whoever subbed episode 2 is terrible at English.

This will probably be better than the original, and charmander is the starting pokemon not pikachu, charmander is the best pokemon so it will make things a lot more interesting.

I do love these OVA's that Nintendo decided to make and love that the animation style is like that of the Black 2/White 2 commercial from last year. Though when Mega Charizard appeared at the end it made me feel like they only used our nostalgia of the old generations just to put in a marketing ploy. While I think that's a dirty trick on Nintendo's part, I honestly don't mind it. I mean the story overall was really good and connecting Mega Charizard to things in a way that works was awesome. Both fans and non fans will like these specials, and I sincerely hope more are made in the future.

I finished watching this the other day. I have to say, it's pretty good as a special. I'm glad they finally made an anime based on the original games. Granted they only focused on a few segments of the game, it's understandable as this was only meant to be four parts. I loved the Cubone episode, especially the moment between Marowak's ghost and Cubone was just too adorable. I also admire the fact that at the beginning and end of each part had the Continue/Save menu.

i actually came up with this, but they should animate the one over Gold's view I mean, in the game, Red returns, only as the world's strongest pkmn trainer, and that battle would definitely be worth watching.

i loved it it was amazing i loved how it was more dramatic and a bit more brutal than the other series were, and on each episodes i always got goosbumps. Plus the fighting scenes were great and suspenseful.
