I have to say I like it. Anime with a lot of fan service are rarely if ever going to be the best, but for a casual thing it's great.

I do agree that if you want some laid back casual fanservice after a hard day there are some great shows out there for that, but what im saying is that sometimes fanservice can take away from what could be a "masterpiece". For example: hayao miyazaki's films never had any fanservice and were considered masterpieces. Why dont we have much anime like them today?

Let me just say I like fanservice so I don´t mind, for discussion purposes while fanservice is rising the best ranking anime are not influenced by that so the good animes will always stay at the top it doesn't matter if they have or don't have fanservice.

I know I'm contradicting myself but even I though that High School of the Dead had too much fanservice.

Fan service makes the world go round. It's what fuels our future creativity and inspires people to entertain others. I see a Cosplay of Axel and think, "what if Axel wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant for spicy nachos? Oh hey there he is!".

I'm ok with fan service, in fact even though I'm a straight girl I do enjoy a lot of it. And if you wanna go off and purposely enjoy it, then go watch ecchi and have fun. But, I do have to say I think there should be a limit to it if the anime isn't in the echhi or related genres. I get tired seeing guys ending up in random, unrealistic, sexy encounters with girls every 10 scenes in anime that's supposed to have more to it, i.e. not ecchi. I also have to be honest and say I really hate girls with giant boobs in anime/manga. I just want to get that out there, it's just really unappealing and unrealistic IMO. And there seems to be more and more of them the newer the anime gets. Basically, I'm fine with fanservice, and even enjoy it,as long as it isn't constant (unless that is the purpose of the anime), and actually makes realistic sense.

Also I don't really mind fanservice in the way that it allows the creators to add more realism to the animation. Though some series take it out of proportion and it takes away from a good storyline.

I think that nowadays fanservice has gotten out of hand. I believe its OK in small amounts ,but if i'm watching a shounen type anime and a random unrealistic or unneeded ecchi scene comes out of nowhere it kind of upsets the mood of the story. Also its a bit awkward when your trying to show a friend a good anime when all of a sudden it turns into a porno. If people really wanted to see "all that stuff" they could just watch the ecchi anime genre.

I believe that fanservice is fine, I mean, I do get why people put ecchi in animes, but, lately it's getting over-obsessive. Like HOTD has a little TOO much, it's a good anime, but it seems like the only reason it was made was for the ecchi (Which it probably was.) It doesn't really bother me, I can handle it, but it can get sorta annoying...

I can stand it in little amounts, but lately it's gotten to be to much. I really got into a manga but at one point there was just too many panty scenes that I couldn't read it any longer. It ruined the entire manga for me because I couldn't get through one page without a few panty scenes popping up. It made me really sad.

I say fan service is all well and good and it doesnt have to specifically be just perverted camera angles, etc. if anything it should at least be toned down at least a bit, H.O.T.D and High School DxD are prime examples of too much fan service, if it was toned down to the point of BTOOOM! where its used once every once in a while then it would be fine
