It's been a while hasn't it?...

This story is about the flow of fate and the battle to keep the world on the right path. Aladdin is a boy who has set out to explore the world after being trapped in a room for most of his life. His best friend is a flute with a djinn in it named Ugo. Soon enough, Aladdin discovers he is a Magi, a magician who chooses kings, and he was born to choose kings who will follow the righteous path, battling against those who want to destroy fate. Follow his adventures as he meets others from 1000 Arabian Nights, like Ali Baba and Sinbad, and fights to keep the balance of world in check!

I'd like to start off by saying that I didn't expect this anime to be nearly as good as it turned out to be...The Story takes place in a time of chaos and where war ravages and the spirit of revolution is in the air. Where magic has awoken anew. Magic created dungeons all over the world. By conquering those dungeons you can get immense powers. New kings get crowned, people stand up for their rights and people go on adventures.
In this world the main protagonists; Aladadin, Alibaba and Morgiana; try to find their own ways and try to take part in these historic times.

All of the characters are fun and enjoyable. There are three main characters, which are very well done, who's development is not exaggerated and not underdeveloped. The characters have time to change but they stay true to their key elements. Even though there might be various anime cliches form time to time, taking Alibabas character design into consideration, however the anime never got consumed by them.

The Art is incredible, I love the character designs, and the animation is pretty fantastic as well. The Art style is a serious one, however they make use of that to make the random, comic relief, art style change all the more enjoyable.
I don't know... this anime reminds me a lot of Hunter X Hunter... and to me, that is a huge plus. Definitely a series worth checking out. Let me know what you think...

Haru and I have been watching.

We pretty much agree that after a kind of good start, Aladdin's mini arc was meh, and then the Balbadd arc kicked all the ass. I'm enjoying it.

I'm just really peeved by how sloppy the attempt at Arabic is in the first few episodes. You can tell the animators were like "Let's add writing, but we don't know it, so we'll just make scribbles that kind of look like it." poop.

I'm also not really feeling Aladdin's character that much still, but hey, Morgiana=boss, Sinbad=boss, Alibaba=rising towards boss tier, Ugo=boss, I'm totally okay with this.

>>2 I actually like Aladdin, he's a fun character to watch develop, he reminds me of Gon from Hunter X Hunter, which if you haven't watched, you should. Granted that arc with him and the whatsitwhosit~ clan could have been a tad more entertaining, but as soon as they got to Balbadd it was incredible. I don't know, without the build up i probably wouldn't have been as taken in as i was. I just can't wait for the rest of it to come out...

bumpitybump

I like that this show really picked up more throughout its second season. There was too much time spent in the first trying to establish character development for the leads, it just felt forced and redundant. Once the Balbadd arc started things picked up, and in the latest arc I think they hit a pretty consistent streak, giving attention to each member in moderation with a more natural pacing and intertwined plot. The extended cast obviously helps too. The end of its first run (episode 25) was acceptable and satisfying. I'm glad this will start airing new stuff again in the fall.

Until then, my late Wednesday nights will be significantly less fun.

I'm still thrown off by the hard "g" when they pronounce "magi" though. ಠ_ಠ japan u so silly

Well I'm not entirely excited about Magi and since I heard the others saying it's good. But I'm not really sure if I should watch it. Should I?

I say go for it, especially if you enjoy shounens.
I don't particularly care for most of them, though I still enjoyed this one.
Might as well give it a shot, and if you don't care for it, you don't have to continue.

Side note, I'm really excited for the second season of this. /o/

I've only watched a couple episodes and I'd say it's good. I may only like it cause that blond Alibaba is adorable.
