I don't know if there is a thread for this yet or not, but I couldn't find one so I thought I might make one. This is to let you say who you think is the most overrated character in anime. Characters who get so much praise and have a fanbase just around that one character, but you think they don't deserve it. This can be completely biased (like mine) and it doesn't have to be real reasons, it's just for the characters that you think don't deserve the popularity they have.
For me, it has to be Kamina from Gurren Lagann. I find this character to be the most obnoxious, selfish and idiotic character that I have ever seen. I honestly don't know how Simon was able to find logic in his crappy ramblings and "motivational speeches". The two good things, only two, I can say about this character, is that he has a fantastic death scene that made me emotional even though I hate him. And that he was voiced masterfully by Kyle Hebert.

Interesting thread. To be honest, that was actually something that I've been thinking about lately. If I had to name a character that I believe to be overrated *hides behind an impenetrable force field* it would have to be Haruhi Suzumiya. I wouldn't consider her a terrible character, but from what I've seen of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, she's a jerk. I know a lot of people like her and don't get me wrong she is interesting. But her behavior and actions towards others is just something I can't overlook. Now that I've said that, I pray that Haruhi fans don't decide to locate my house and kill me in my sleep. *gunpoint* I'm sorry, that's just my opinion. >.<

I would say that an over rated character might be Sebastian from Black Butler. I'm a fan of him but he might be over rated. I honestly don't know. A friend of mine said that Sasuke Uchiha is over rated. He thinks he is emo and stupid.

I personally think people glorify Goku way too much, especially when they know nothing about him. So maybe it might not be that he's overrated but that people don't know shit about him when they talk about him. But, I digress, I'll still consider him over rated. Again, disclaimer: I absolutely love Goku, but sometimes it just goes way too far
