Okay so sakuga animation is what the japanese refer to as the "key animation". These animated sequences are usually the most expensive parts of the anime as they are the most fluid and use up the most frames. Unlike the still animations that is used in most anime, a few sakuga animation are exclusively used in some works...these are works whose animation are especially flashy, fluid, and expressive.
Some anime such as FLCL and Fullmetal Alchemist are examples of the wild and extremely agitated styles.
Ghost in the Shell and Millenium Princess and the are examplesof realistic styles.
Some great studios include Production IG, Gainax and Studio Ghibli.
