BAsed on a pachinko game, Roman Phantom Thief is a ....decent anime? I guess....anyways....
This story set in the Genroku Era which is considered the golden Age of the Edo Period. Roman is a helper whjo basically...helps anyone out for coins which he inevitably spends gambling which in turn get's his ass kicked by his chopstick decorator sister who pays his rent. This loser in society is completely transformed at night when he dons a mask and becomes the phantom thief. He steals from the corrupt rich and gives it to the poor. Along with his fellow Helpers, he delivers justice to a destitute era. (really?)

One of the biggest draws of this new anime is the art design by Monkey Punch who is famed for his work on Lupin III. Animation is decent ( could be more crisp). Music is a distinct blend of traditional Japanese music mixed with modern hip hop and jazz. IT looks like a typical shounen type really with action and hopeless idealism (and complete exaggeration of history)...all this does not mean you can't have fun though...
