I'll cover the TV show airing this season, and the old OVA that aired like a long time ago.
The story of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure centers around the misadventures of the Joestars, a powerful family with English roots. It's also divided into several arcs, these arcs centered around a member of said Joestar. It was created by Hirohiko Araki back in the late 80's, as a manga, of course.
Phantom Blood
The first arc covered by the show. It spans the first 9 episodes and stars the one who started it all, Johnathan Joestar. It takes place in 1880's Britain, and the nemesis of the arc is Dio Brando. Vampires, superpowers, muscles, oh my.
Battle Tendency
This arc centers around Joseph Joestar, grandson of Johnathan Joestar. The year is in the 1930's. He fights vampires, ancient superbeings, with help from nazis and Italians and such. Like grandfather, like grandson, eh? Not really. Just the vampires part.
Stardust Crusaders(OVA)
This arc features Jotaro Kujo, grandson of Joseph Joestar. The year is the 80's. Jotaro's a punk, delinquent, fighter, and he also has a superpower introduced in this arc. Around the world, evil spirits and monstrous powers awaken, which Jotaro must tame and defeat if he wants to save his mother. He also gets to travel around the world, to face a hundred year old vampire that thirsts for him and his family's blood.
And those are the arcs that have so far aired, in the TV series and the OVA. My opinion on the series? Goddamn, it's fabulous. Is there anything else that needs to be said?
Hopefully, the other arcs get made into an anime, maybe remake the Stardust Crusaders arc, so that it gets up to the standards of the current animation and stuff, but it's fine as is.

this series is incredible
I watch the stardust crusader ova, and love it, especially the "fight" with D'arby, when I watch it my mind just "WOW" ^^
I also read the manga from part1(phantom blood) to part5(vento aureo), i haven't read part6 and the rest though

Currently watching Arc 2 of JJBA, i can not tell you how AMAZING this series is. Its the best thing to have showed up last year! Its one of those animes where I have to watch EVERYTHING and READ IT ALL! I am in love with this anime. Jojo (Jonathan) is my hero but Joesph is no gentleman. I love it to much.
