I wonder if anyone here has caught wind of this one yet.

ZAGToon, a division of the French animation production company Univergroup, has collaborated with Toei Animation on an upcoming project entitled, 「LadyBug」. The new mahou shoujo series will consist of 26 episodes and is scheduled to begin broadcast in both Belgium and France in 2013. The first promotional video can be viewed after the cut. (video)

The project is also co-produced by French studio Method Animation who are accountable for the series’ CG elements.

*Synopsis:

Marinette Cheng, a shy high-school student, has inherited some magical ladybug-shaped earrings. The ornaments grant the power of Luck to whoever wears them. Yet there is one condition : they have to be worn in an altruistic manner, or else, beware of the consequences!
Whenever the situation needs it, Marinette turns into LADYBUG, the guardian angel.

Honestly one of the first times I've heard of an anime company collaborating with another animation studio overseas, so I'm interested with how this will turn out in comparison to other similar titles. It certainly looks like it has a different flair to it than other magical girl anime, what with it being set in France.

I'm not ashamed that I want to watch this. The PV looks really interesting.
