Megumi Noda, or "Nodame" is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist, she prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score. Also known for being messy, disorganized and generally eccentric.
Shinichi Chiaki is Momogaoka’s top student, arrogant and a perfectionist. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor, but is stuck in Japan due to his phobia of airplanes.
Nodame Cantabile tells the story of Chiaki and Nodame, as they not only learn to deal with each other, but learn lessons from one another as they strive for the top of the musical world.
It has wonderful characters and and really fresh dynamic between its two leads, that become one of the best couples I can think of in anime. The tone is mostly lighthearted and the story is accompanied by some great music and might wake in you a new found interest and appreciation for classical music you didn't have before. Such a great show, easily one of my top 5 favorite animes.
