Kazuya Kujo has been studying abroad at the prestigious Saint Marguerite Academy, where urban legends and horror stories are all the rage. Most Kazuya ignores but the story of the Queen Berry, a mysterious ghost ship, really gets to him. Of course, his brainy friend Victorique is much more intrigued by true stories, and she uses her unrivaled logic to solve mysteries even the town's famous detective can't. Ironically, it is Victorique's inquisitive nature that leads the duo to board a ship that matches the Queen Berry's description to a tee, a ship that might just hold the key to solving a sinister mystery...

Who know this anime or manga...??

It seems interesting, but I haven't watched or read it before.

it's an amazing anime..i'm on episode 4 and i can't stop watching it!!

4 Name: Yatahaze !E/8OvwUzpY : 2012-08-06 12:31 ID:hBNtYz8c [Del]

I'm in the middle of watching it.
Tis a great show.

The Queen Berry "arc" is only like, the first 3 episodes, the rest of the show uses the same basic system of
-"introduce mystery"
-"gather facts"
-"character sideplot development"
-"solve mystery"
and it works even though it seems like it would be repetitive.
The mysteries really are fun to try to crack before the characters do, and thus far I've only been able to do so once. I'd recommend it.

(Be thankful it isn't).

Because loli would be inappropriate, especially for younger members. What's your definition of loli?

The entire internet more or less runs off this definition. So, by extension...

Welcome to the internet, Black.

"The entire internet runs off this definition"
I was... unaware of this.

I suppose it's simply defined based on certain parts of the internet. Anyways, we should really get back to the anime at hand, this topic has gotten a bit out of hand.

You don't frequent the front page of google? Your internet must be strange.

>>13 The word "loli" was originally based off the title (and character) of the book "Lolita". It's about a pedo who goes after a sexually active young girl and gets her. She is completely willing the entire time. She later leaves him for someone else. The entire book she is leading him on. Yep, a 12ish yearold girl leading a pedophile on. That, my friends, is a loli.

Indeed. However it's rarely, if ever actually used in that manner - Especially on the internet, where in the term is infinitely more commonly associated with the every day common anime definition of loli - Which is just a little girl. If that's damn near the only result on the front of google, there's no excuse.

And considering that even beyond that, said term was used on a board revolving around animation, in a thread about a series revolving around a little girl...

Well, the mistake was hilarious. And continues to be hilarious.

And I will continue laughing at it. No mercy.

When I see "loli" I see it as short for "lolicon." And believe me, there are plenty of people using the term in that manner on the internet. I suppose the word's based off of which definition you notice the most (availability heuristic and all), but to each their own.

17 Name: anubis !AnUBiS6/LQ : 2012-08-06 20:48 ID:WT+a1auz [Del]

>>15 I know that most people view the term to mean just a little girl. However, the first time I ever heard of it was in a news story about a teenager who seduced her stepdad. Now whenever I hear that term I immediately cringe. I'm not sure where along the line the meaning got twisted. I do still find it amusing how many people don't realize where the term originated.

If you want exacty Etymology, Loli derives from lolicon as the "subject" for the "con", or "complex". From that deriviation, Loli would literally translate to the "little girl", since the complex revolved around that.

Lolicon itself was a contraction that originated in asia regarding the lolita complex which, as previously mentioned, was a novel about a nymphet.

The actual etymology isn't really important (unless you're just into the more you know kinda thing). The important thing here is that black apparently forgot where he was and/or just screwed up the meaning entirely, and we're getting laughs out of it.

...And my point stands about black's internet being a strange place, since he apparently generally hears "loli" used as shorthand for lolita complex. I don't think I've ever heard or seen someone say "He's got a loli" or "He's a loli" and mean it like that. Ever.

But, again, all of this take back seat to the fact that we're laughing at black because he goofed - Not arguing over the definition of what a loli is or isn't.

"The important thing here is that black apparently forgot where he was and/or just screwed up the meaning entirely, and we're getting laughs out of it."

I'm on the internet, and believe me, there are very different communities on the internet. In today's society, meaning in a word is based on the context in which you hear it, hence my definition being different than yours.

"And my point stands about black's internet being a strange place, since he apparently generally hears "loli" used as shorthand for lolita complex."

Not my entire internet, merely a site or two.

"But, again, all of this take back seat to the fact that we're laughing at black because he goofed"

>3/5 paragraphs talking about me and how I done goofed
>Not realizing I envy you for your innocence
>Not realizing I'm also slightly weirded out by the fact that you're taking 3 paragraphs just to talk about me
Awkward...

I hadn't even realized one person could be a "we," much less that I could derail a thread so easily. Remember when this was about an anime? I remember those days...

Either way, I simply find too many examples to see loli = animated CP.

It would have been just laughs, but then word etymology got brought up. A similar thing happened with MKOLLER in a thread in random - Bringing up word etymology is never a good way to cease the derailment of a thread.

"...to cease the derailment of a thread"
But it derailed the thread in the first place, not ceasing to derail it (as the conversation points out).
Still, today's vocabulary (as well as a lot of things) are based in the environment in which they're used.

>>21
Eh, innocence can be based by comparing one's self to another, as can many things. Either way, I had no way to know otherwise.

>>22
Since no one had to up until that point, it was more than a fair assumption.

I have mixed feelings about good endings like this, on one side I like them on other side it means I will never get a season 2.
And this ladies and gentlemen are the stuff I think at night, not that you care but.

Definitely racing to the top of my favorites. The first time I tried to watch it, I was forced to use my phone's 3G, so the beginning of the first episode, for lack of a better term, scared me away. I decided to give it another try when I found out that Victorique is at the top of three different loli lists, and she should be.

It was worth it. Not just because of Victorique, but because of the story itself. I like solving the mysteries, for I just like doing so with anything. Me liking mysteries complete other topic I could write a paragraph or three on, though. I am in the middle of the alchemist mystery, and I'm simply stumped. Many of the others, I solved just as fast as, if not faster that, Victorique.

This may turn out to be my favorite anime by the time I finish watching it.
