"It's Yui Hirasawa's first year in high school, and she's eagerly searching for a club to join. At the same time, Ritsu Tainaka, a drummer, and her friend Mio Akiyama, a bassist, are desperately trying to save the school's light music club, which is about to be disbanded due to lack of members. They manage to recruit Tsumugi Kotobuki to play the keyboard, meaning they only need one more member to get the club running again. Yui joins, thinking it will be an easy experience for her to play the castanets, the only instrument she knows. However, the other members think their new addition is actually a guitar prodigy..."
Well i didn't see a thread for K-On on here and I just had to share it with the Dollars. It's probably my second favorite anime of all time and is just a lot of fun to watch. The lack of any real conflict is a nice break from some other animes in my view and all of the characters are entirely likable. I definitely recommend both seasons and the movie to anyone looking for a nice slice of life anime with lovable characters and some pretty kickass songs.

Cute show with some good music. Reccomendable to those who like Lucky Star, Azumanga and the like. Laid back, not one for plot or adventure, but the characters are likable and the whole thing is very much moe fluff. And that's not a bad thing.

Both Cute and Funny!

To be honest, I kinda wanna know what Azusa is gonna do for the rest of her high school career. Anyone else think it'd kinda cool for them to continue the story?

I loved K-On so much. >>4 I really do think they should continue the story as I can't get enough of it

I love K-on so much! I could rant on and on about how awesome it is, but everyone already knows that. (and shame upon those who don't).

I've seen the first season and really enjoyed it. It was kinda like cotton candy: not much substance, but it was so sweet and fluffy that you couldn't help but enjoy it. I think I really need to watch the second season.

>>7 What this guy said. You don't need a reason to love K-on, you just do. And I also have yet to watch the second season, mostly because I'm waiting for the dub to come out... come to think of it, has the dub come out yet?

I love k-on!

Watched the anime+movie and collecting the manga. I fucking love K-on! Especially Mio. Just because....BASS.

I also like the music-related humor. I personally like the manga more than the anime, but both are awesome.

Okay, everyone. I've been watching the second season, and I've come to a realization. The four main characters are high-school, gender-flipped versions of the Beatles. The... BEATLES! I checked through some forums, and it seems that I'm not the only one to realize this. Yui is John (air-headed prodigy guitarist and vocalist), Ritsu is Ringo (wild and goofy drummer), Mio is Paul (shy, neat-freak bassist, songwriter, and the "face" of the band), and Mugi is George (the quiet but secretly bizzare multi-instrumental member that many people tend to forget about). They even look similar if you look closely enough. The more I think about it, the weirder it gets...

>>11 If you've given it a lot of thought then, who's Azusa

>>12 Good question. One of their managers maybe?

I was actually surprised that I liked K-on as much as I did. I thought it would just be boring and the characters would annoy because they try to act like cute little girls and everything. But I really didn't feel like that at all as I was watching. I got some good music to put on my i-pod too.

KICKASS SHOW!
(sorry for capslock)
Amazing music along with great animation. Surprisingly enough this is my favorite anime even though it is a comedy.
The music that they created for this show is gorgeous and gets you pumped when you want to be pumped and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy when you want that. Great composition (imo).

For some reason this is one of those shows, I believe, where it is impossible to choose a favorite character. Their all to moe and amazing to choose one specifically.

the manga can be quit bored as you could not hear the music,
k-on is a music animation and if you could not hear the music what is the point of watching it. Yui is so cute and she is the main character but alot of people like mio and azusa better as they are cuter than yui but i don't think so.

I watched K-on! for the moe and comedy rather than the music the band played. I liked the OST and the EDs were pretty good, but everything else was not really my taste. The tribute song to Asuza I think was the only song that they actually played that appealed to me.

That said, I think the world of Tsumugi (fellow pianist!!!)

Oh and Sawa-chan can be pretty awesome lol

All they did was drink fucking tea.

Do people actually like this for the music or are they just fans of all things moe? I didn't get anything out of the first season of this, and a friend (if I can call him that) keeps pestering me about how the second season is a lot better.

For someone that didn't care for the first at all is the second worth my time?

I like anime in the genre of comedy+slice of life. Which is why I love K-on even though I am not the type that like moe things. Obviously K-on does not appeal to those who want serious or darker anime only. I like various genres so I am fine.

After all there are days when you want something serious and there are days when you just want to sit back and relax.

Haruhi says not to watch this. But, if you throw in some yuri I might reconsider.

No, there is no yuri.

Watched the first episode, did not really enjoy it. The humour was too basic for me personally.
