(Alternate name: Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo)

Synopsis: When 17-year-old Makoto Konno gains the ability to, quite literally, "leap" backwards through time, she immediately sets about improving her grades and preventing personal mishaps. However, she soon realises that changing the past isn't as simple as it seems, and eventually, will have to rely on her new powers to shape the future of her and her friends.

Directed by Mamoru Hosoda, and screenplay by Satoko Okudera, this movie is based off a novel of the same name, written by Yasutaka Tsutsui.

So, I've seen this film a couple of times now, and I honestly think it's among the most beautiful animated films that I've seen. If you have some spare time and feel like watching a movie you haven't seen before, I highly recommend this. Its main genres are sci-fi and romance, but even if you aren't hugely into either of those genres (I'm not a huge fan of them either), you should still give it a try!

It's kinda like a story with no ending. It really is interesting but leaves with you with an unfinshed feeling and alot of questions. Nevertheless it's a good movie for sci-fi and romance to see. It's was a novel at first, by the same guy who wrote Paprika (Which was made into a movie and inspired the movie Inception) so you know it's gonna be good!

Such a good movie~ i cried at the end XD

Movie is brilliant. Kind of an emotional rollercoaster, but extremely well-written. I personally found it flawless.

Hosoda is such an amazing director.

I rewatched this earlier and I was left with the same question as the first time I watched it a few years ago.

So Chiaki told her at the end that she should wait for him in the future, but from his descriptions it seemed that that future was pretty far-off. It wasn't just a few years away, but decades, maybe more. So...how exactly would that work? Maybe they're more liberal in the future about big age differences, but she'd still live most of her life without him.

I feel like I'm missing something, and if I am I'm frustrated I missed it both times I watched the movie.

This movie is great, but unfortunate a little bit predictable...
Not to say its bad, I just could guess a lot of plot points.

It's so beautiful. Like I can't type any words cos they just won't mean anything when talking about this movie. All I can say is that I fucking cried for 2 hours after watching it and it was my 5th time watching. Reccomend this 4reals.

I Love The Girl who leapt through time because of that i researched a lot about it.
Did anyone here knew that it has a Live Action Movie that tells what happened after The Part 1, Makoto had a Daughter to another guy and she spent her entire life trying to make an Elixer to go back to the past and so on but one day she had an Accident and remembered about the guy whom he promised into that they will meet again (forgot his name xD) so she told her Daughter to go back to a Certain time and say to the guy that she didnt forget there promise but the girl leapt through a different time and met a guy who helped her and thus they fell in love and... i forgot what happened next xD anyways Search for it, i know you wont be sorry

Oh! I just watched this not too long ago! I really enjoyed it, and it had excellent animation~ A must watch for anyone that has never seen it!

Watched this quite recently. It's an amazing film and the art style is great. The only thing that let it down for me was the awkward minute and a half running scene near the end... My parents came in thinking I was watching porn :/

bang✫bang I also had a lot of thoughts about this question, but at the end I believe there was no true intention of them two meeting again, they both knew it was impossible, but knowing that none of them would ever forget each other, that he would wait for her and she would run to him, it was the best consolation they would get from that situation...
