Oreki Houtarou is a minimalistic high school boy. One day, he joins the Classic Literature Club at his elder sister's request.
There he meets Chitanda Eru, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka. Chitanda is a calm beautiful girl but she turns into an embodiment of curiosity once she says, "I'm interested in it (Watashi, Kininarimasu)". Fukube is a smiling boy with a fantastic memory who calls himself a database. Ibara is a short girl and is strict with others and herself. She loves Fukube, but he always dodges her approaches.
They begin to investigate a case that occurred 45 years ago. Hints of the mystery are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Classics Club. The collection is titled "Hyouka."

The animation is GOD-tier, seriously, like WOW!
The characters are very interesting.
The mysteries are not at all typical, I find. They're actually pretty cool, hahaha.
There's fanservice (for those who want it.)

One of my faves of 2012.
Probably my favorite aspect aside from the art and pace (which were both phenomenal in their own right) was that the characters felt less like contrived characters and more like....people.
And now I'll be stuck trying to solve mundane "mysteries" from minimal information for the rest of the year. luls

Obviously you haven't watched the anime yet or were not paying attention. To describe Eru Chitanda as some cute girl is proof enough. She's probably the most exaggerated cute girl ever, however the fact that she is designed to be the counter part of the main character balances it very well. Also there is no stupid fanservice which pretty much destroys your argument.
If you want to critisize please try to be reasonable.

Well the plot was amazing with a lot of surprising development.
The characters felt really human in the way they interact (except for chitanda with her exaggerated cuteness, because she is so often depicted from Oreki's view.)

Underrated anime is underrated.
The writing props mostly go the original novel author, but the way KyoAni made this an anime was fantastic. Probably one of the most beautiful shows art-wise and presentation-wise I've ever watched, even for KyoAni standards.
Seriously why have so few of you watched this.

My curiosity have kept me hooked into it. You'll never know what to expect here. At the end of the mysteries, I always thought in my head, "Oh, so that's how it is" or something like that.
Love the art and animation. Beautiful ending. I hope there's more.

The best thing about Hyouka is how simple and beautiful this anime is. There is no extremely confusing plot and no intricate mysteries. No. I really loved it and the characters are really well developed. plus the art and the animation are gorgeous

2nd season probably won't happen anytime soon if ever since they used nearly all the source material they could and then some for the first season.
Tamako S**t is aight in my book. Hell of a lot better than Kyoukai no Kanata or Free.
