In the year 2006 the kid brothers Mutta and Hibito, on a nightly hunt for animal sounds in the local woods, unexpectedly see a blazingly bright rotating flying object in the sky, right above their home town. After a short moment the UFO accelerates towards the surface of the Moon. Witnessing this, the two youngsters vow to become astronauts and some day travel into space.

Now in 2025 younger brother Hibito, as the first Japanese, made it into the NASA team that will set foot on the Moon again. Mutta, on the other hand, defending his brothers honour, gets fired from his car designer job. The older of the two brothers has not forgotten about their dream from back then though... and on a fateful day his life changes.

I've finally caught up on this. I haven't actually watched an anime this long before, and the episode count is only rising.

What an lovable show. It's kind of a shame that hardly anyone picked it up last spring.

This is an awesome show. Pretty captivating. I like the themes of the show.

And I also like how side characters come back sometimes, even when it seems like their role was done, just making everything come full circle. Just awesome.

btw there's a film coming out this summer and hopefully a season 2, considering how well it sells over in Japan.

Did I post about the live-action film yet? I did? Oh well, I'll say it again, this shit looks pretty damn good for a live-action adaptation. Some things are changed / condensed apparently, but also Coldplay and Sigur Ros are in the OST as well, and it seems like a pretty faithful adaptation. It's also incidentally really cheap and region free, so I'm probably gonna be picking it up to hold me off in the interim.
