So, in the second quarter of the 21st century, humans had perfected light-speed travel. We then began colonizing the galaxy. In the year 2057, the Crogs, human's nearest neighbor, begin to attack the Earth. Many years of fighting go by, then the Avatar appears in congress's hologram projector, telling them about a giant race for "the Ultimate Prize." Many species of aliens are included in this race, including humans. At first, we are reluctant to go, but we decide to to save the Earth, for all contestants MUST NOT attack each other's home worlds.
Eventually, the star, Molly (whose real name is Eva), finds out the "Ultimate Prize" is actually just being able to be the Avatar, unlike she wanted. She wanted to bring her mother back to life.
I was about to give away the ending in this paragraph, but I better not.

I still almost cry at the end of every episode from episode four (or five, forget at which number they switched the song) and on.
I remember watching this show and loving it. I thought one of the saddest episodes in the show was when Molly(or Eva) had to race against the alien that was thought to have caused her mother's death. I think the show did a good job with drama and the comedy was okay too. But it's been forever since I heard someone actually talk about the show so thank you for putting a thread up for it. :)
