There is "Another" that just came out. My personal recommendation(s) are:
Guilty Crown (have to get through the beginning whining, but gets really good)
Steins;Gate (Messing with time and alternate realities)
Manawaru Penguindrum (Probably spelled the first part wrong. Very good, Psychological, answer to 1 questions opens 2 more questions)

I would definitely recommend Deadman Wonderland. I believe this was a very well-handled horror anime. There are a couple of flaws like you can already tell who the villain is going to be as well as the anime being only 12 episodes but those are flaws that can be overlooked. The characters are good, the story is creative, and even though I wasn't actually scared there are some pretty gory and harsh scenes in Deadman Wonderland. It's definitely a horror anime worth watching.

ive tried Higurashi and im wondering how the episodes are set up. Is the first five or so episodes an ending that could have happened, then the next 5 are about another scenario that could have happened? Its a good anime, but im hoping someone could clear this up, thanks.

Just started watching Higurashi. I finished 3 episodes already. At first I thought it was gonna be something funny. I mean, I knew it was dark, but I never expected anything. Now i'm sitting in my chair, and 2 times, after episode 2 and 3, my chest was pounding, and I was scared. I completely recommend it.
