Negi Springfield is a ten-year-old wizard from Wales, who dreams of becoming a Magister Magi , a special wizard who uses his powers to help normal people, using covers such as working for NGOs.

Negi's reason for becoming a Magister Magi is to find his father, Nagi Springfield, the legendary mage also known as the "Thousand Master", who is believed to be dead.

After graduating from the Merdiana Magic Academy in Wales, Negi is given a duty as a cover in the real world, and training, before he actually becomes a Magister Magi. That duty is to become an English teacher at Mahora Academy in Japan. The task will not be easy, however, as Negi will become a teacher to a Middle School class of 31 older girls, each very special in her own way. The series details his time and adventures in Japan as he gains acceptance and respect from his students, helps them in their problems, and faces magical threats from inside and outside Mahora Academy. Although each of the girls has her own back story and personality, Negi's main relationship is with Asuna Kagurazaka, his student and roommate, who dislikes him initially but later accepts him as a friend and becomes his partner, helping find clues about his father and his life.

You can NOT be telling me this is the first Negima thread here.
A good majority of this FRANCHISE is freaking awesome, with the exception of the Xebec anime. They started okay, but their airing caught up with and surpassed the manga, leading to a rather out-of-nowhere ending that honestly wasn't that good. There is a whole lot more to this series than they showed there, seeing as the manga has 400+chapters while the anime series has 26 episodes.

The manga of Negima! was good. So was the Studio Shaft anime version, Negima!? (Notice the !? interrobang.) They basically said, "Screw this, let's do something Monty Python style." So they did something completely different. It ended up being, in my opinion, a thousand times better than the Xebec anime.

There was also a live action series, Negima!! (2 exclamations). Don't go near that. Seriously. Just don't.

Finally, we get to the OVAs. First off we have the Fanservice-laden Spring and Summer OVAs, which took all the repressed fanservice absent in Negima!? and blasted it into your brain at a thousand meters a second. While still managing to be funny. Not much plot, but still enjoyable. After that, Studio Shaft decided to take the series back to its roots and make 2 separate direct-from-manga OVA series. Shiroki Tsubasa Ala Alba and Mou Hitotsu no Sekai (Another World). I won't write more simply because spoilers.

In any case, the series is really exhaustive, and I don't even think I've covered everything they have. I heard rumors of some depraved spinoff where the girls are all in kindergarten and Negi and Kotarou are adults, teaching them, and it still contains the same basic level of fanservice, but I have no freaking clue. As long as it isn't Akamatsu himself making the really depraved stuff, I don't care.

Anyway, that's my exhaustive knowledge of the whole damn franchise ^.^

I just finished this a few days ago.. the dub voice for the main guy is horrid, so I suggest checking for subs first. Its a pretty good anime, not the most grasping show there is, but its good.
