Sailor Moon is a media franchise created by manga artist Naoko Takeuchi. The story of the various metaseries revolves around the reborn defenders of a kingdom that once spanned the Solar System, and around the evil forces that they battle. The major characters — the Sailor Senshi, teenage girls — can transform into heroines named for the moon and planets (Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, etc.). The use of "Sailor" comes from a style of girls' school uniform popular in Japan, the sērā fuku ("Sailor Outfit"), on which Takeuchi modeled the Sailor Senshi's uniforms. The elements of fantasy in the series are heavily symbolic and often based on mythology.

Oh my gosh this was one of the first animes I've watched. I really did like Sailor Moon as a kid and I even owned one of the movies. I hear that there might be a re-dub of the anime though I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

First anime I ever watched. I was so little back then and used to watch it every chance I had. It's a beautiful anime, I saw it again completely a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It's such a cute story, I really really like it. I still have to read the manga though...

One thing that always bugged me about Takeuchi's series were the legs.
I mean, it's one thing to have legs that never quite.
It's one thing to have legs that go on forever.
It is another thing entirely to have legs 2-3 times the size of the rest of your body.
Just... Holy crap, it's terrifying.

I used to wake up super early on Saturdays to watch this on my local Fox station. I had no idea what anime was but I knew I just loved it. Although SM was my second anime, it was the first series that I fell in love with and bought merchandise for. I am glad that it's being re-translated (manga) and re-dubbed. Can't wait to read volume 3, which is in the mail!

i remember the time my cousins fought over one character (sailor venus i think) and they ended up not talking to each other for more than two years (NO exaggeration) but they're the best of friends now. weird. sorry, random stuff popped into my head. ^^

Sailor Moon. This was the first anime i ever watched. My mom showed it to me when i was 6. since then i have watched ever episode of it and become completely obsessed with anime. XD if my mom only knew what she had started back then. Amara (Hakura) aka Sailor Uranus was alway my favorite character :D
