Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is an anime that aired on July 9, 2009 and ended on September 17, 2009. The story is about a girl named Maira who takes her little brother, Yuuki, to a robot exhibit in Tokyo. While she waits for him to go use the restroom a massive earthquake, with a magnitude of 8.0, hits the city and many buildings are destroyed as well as lives lost. The two siblings then meet a single mother, Mari, who offers to travel together with them on their way home especially since it turns out that they live nearby one another.

I finished watching this series today and I have to admit that this is a very good anime and an underrated one as well since I don't hear many people talk about it. It's 11 episodes long, one opening and ending theme, and a minimal amount of characters. It doesn't have any magic powers or even Mecha but it certainly is worth watching. I recommend anyone to watch this series. It's short, has plenty of character development, sad yet full of hope, along with the negative and positive effects from people of a natural disaster.

I just checked out the first episode and it was great! I can actually relate to Maira in many ways. Can't wait to continue it.
