On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having “no interest in ordinary humans”. When Kyon comments about Haruhi’s joining every club in school and then quitting he unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. I liked this show when I first watched it. It was a different sort of slice of life anime, and I liked the premise. I'm like, HOOKED on this anime/manga/light novel. I've taken Haruhi Suzumiya to the next level. I use her name in things I say, I've made my own homemade "director" armband, and I even practice Haruhism. (There's more that I don't wanna list too!) Haruhi Suzumiya is my idol. I talk about her so much it's annoying to people. I'm a Haruhist. XD

I only recently started this one after having heard about it for what is decades in internet time, and I wonder now why I hesitated then. The epicness! The sheer awesomeness! The irony of this world's God being a high school girl that finds this world boring! It's all so damn perfect.
And a fun fact for you all, in both the English and Japanese versions, Haruhi Suzumiya and Konata Izumi (from Lucky Star) are both voiced by the same person. It's almost like it was... planned or something. *Insert Light Yagami "Just as planned" screenshot here*

Really great anime! It was funny, touching, and for the most part very different than most ^^
But the only downside to this and the Disappearance was the lack of a unexpected ending... And the Endless 8...

My advice for watching the Endless Eight: do it with at least one other person. I enjoyed the E8 because, when I watched it with a group of friends including my brother, we made a game out of noticing differences and inconsistencies between episodes. We even made a game out of trying to quote the characters word for word as they would say it. I had it down by the time we hit episode six. Although, I also enjoy it because it places you in Yuki's shoes for a little bit to give you a slight inkling as to what she's feeling. This also helps explain why she did what she did in Disappearance.
In other news, I've also been reading the light novels recently, and I can't wait for them to make another season out of them. They get into some seriously epic shenanigans!

I love this anime so much!!! It was one of the first that I ever saw, and it's still one of my favourites today. In my mind, both seasons (yes, even the Endless Eight) and the movie are very close to perfection. Also the light novels are really epic. I really hope they make a third season.

This is the coolest anime/manga/light novel series I have ever seen. I fell in love with all of the characters instantly. The story is absolutely fantastic and the animation could not be more beautiful. I can actually play both of the songs that ENOZ play on "Someday in the Rain" on guitar.

as whovian I went nuts when Kyon used the name John Smith when going back in time, if made me ROFL XD, and when I watched the english dub of this and Durax3 it took me a while but I noticed Koizumi and Izaya have the same voice actor, but it fit both of them because Koizumi always struck me as kind of a jerk :P

I'm on episode 16 with the Endless Eight time loop. I have to say, this a anime is really different. But, sometimes I forget the difference between this anime and Angel Beats! Mainly because Yuki and Kanade have same English voice actors and act the same, and Haruhi looks a whole lot like Yuri. Kyon also acts and looks like Otonashi.

So, I'm thinking about showing The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya to my mother. And I'm wondering if that's a good idea considering #1 She typically isn't all that interested in anime or anything related to it. And #2 She obviously has not seen the television series. Now, personally, I think the movie is fine as a stand-alone film. Will there be some confusing parts? Of course. Are they easily explained? Yes. And I will explain them if I have to.
But I honestly want peoples opinions. Is showing her the movie without first watching the TV series a good idea?

The latest book was released just last year, after the author went MIA for almost a decade. Truly, writers block is a writer's worst enemy.
Just feeling kinda melancholic, its been almost 20 years since this was first released. The time setting of the series was during the 2000s, and here we are, still following their stories after going through a major change of era, enduring through a lifetime of struggle, yet the characters are unchanged still after all these times.
Take me back to the 2000s, when everything was better than whatever today is.
