Persona 4 takes place in the same universe as Persona 3 in a rural town named Inaba. There have been mysterious murders occurring whenever there was fog after heavy rain. There were also rumors about a channel on television airing only at midnight called Mayonaka TV, during which it is said that one can see his/her "other half" when staring at the TV screen.

After hearing about a recent unsolved murder which occurred during the fog, the characters—the main character, Chie, and Yōsuke—discuss how each of them had attempted to watch the mysterious TV channel and witnessed the murder victim. The protagonist later realizes that during midnight when the channel is on, his body can phase into his television set as a gateway to enter another world infested with shadows.

After discovering this, they all decide to explore. When first completely entering the world, dazed and confused, the main character meets Teddie. Mayonaka TV and the town murders seem to have a connection. The murder victims may be merely victims of Mayonaka TV. Everyone decides that they will together try to solve the mysterious murders by exploring the hidden world of Mayonaka TV.


Oh my god. So I nerded out so hard watching this, only the first episode and I'm crying for more. They're doing it so well, I had my doubts but thus far they are being proven wrong. Word for word dialogue in comparison to the game. The day to day calender to change days was there, The 15 minute commercial break is ended with a screen showing the main characters Stats, which is so Boss. I shouldn't have to say anything about the soundtrack. All in All, I'm fucking psyched. That is all i have to say.

Oh my god, I didn't know the first episode came out, so when I read what you wrote, I immediately decided to watch it.

I was so happy to be able to see it, I wanted to cry. XD

I've seen the first episode, it aired on the 7th. The second episode is on the 14th. There were some teasers in dubs.

I believe that it was a near perfect transition from game to anime my serious problems is 1 I just saw the first episode yesterday (should of saw it sooner) and 2 I have to wait more then 5 minutes for the next

Ah... I was really excited to see this here. Personally, I was thrilled with the anime. I thought it was brilliant and well-done, especially going from a video-game to an anime. I can't say I have any complaints, and I thought all the little changes they did were really clever--especially with Souji/Yu's coat. I think the first episode went a little fast, but it was also the beginning of the game where they have to sort of layout the idea for what the hell is going on. After all, not everyone has played the game. However, they're set and ready to have 25 episodes, so I think it'll work. It did for Tales of the Abyss, and the games have about the same running time.

What bothers me is the complaints of the fans. Of all the complaints, it's the same thing, and I don't understand why they're getting so upset over it:

- Yosuke didn't get kicked in the nads (Okay, so what?)
- Lots of shots of Yosuke's backside (This was a bit of a running gag in the beginning of the game. It's not that big of a deal.)
- MC's name was changed. (Technically, Souji Seta was only canon in the "manga," but I don't mind Yu Narukami. They actually had a reason for changing it. The protagonist's surname Narukami is a direct reference to Izanagi. If one splits up the name into naru (meaning "to become") and kami (meaning "god"), the name can be translated to "become a god" and thus alludes to Izanagi's nature as one of the two most important gods in the Shinto religion. I don't remember the reasoning behind "Yu," but that was the story behind his last name.)
- Yu/Souji's Coat (...This is sort of a ridiculous argument, seeing as he opened it by the end of the game and I thought what they did with it was pretty cool.)

...*ahem* But I think I've rambled enough. I'm going to end up annoying people. But... I felt the need to reply here. Persona is my favourite fandom in the world.

I don't really know what to make of the anime. I never played the game, so I don't have anything to really compare it to, but the character development is sort of...strange I guess.
And MC's complete acceptance of things just doesn't sit right with me.

But w/e, I'm sure if I had played the game things would make more sense.

I gotta say im loving this series so far. Did anybody see the kanji bathhouse scene in episode 7 i could not stop laughing the entire episode. I love the main character in this series he's kinda a derp so it makes him seem more human you know. Best line was after he saw kanji in the tv " I taped it do you want a copy" XD

God damn, so that new episode covered sooooo much ground, I swear those parts took me literally around 4 hours to get through, yet they successfully managed to play it out in less than half an hour. Anyway, Risette is fine as hell... MMMph, that pole dancing scene~ And Shadow Kuma was just as terrifying as i remember him being.

Okay, so recently I gave into the peer pressure and torrented all the episodes to date.

I like how they present the show in a way that you forget that it was a game before an anime. I was pretty doubtful that they managed to give Protagonist a voice, I thought it would go down like giving Link a voice in the Zelda cartoon. But it went better than expected.

This animation is AWESOME! Though, some of the scenes aren't shown in the game. This animation gave the main character a more talkative personality than the one in the game. But still! It's friggin awesome!! Made me laugh a lot!

I love the game and the animated series version. :3 However, the TV series' pacing is simply too fast IMO. ~.~

LOL! The main character is so funny!! I like how he's like, "You want a copy?" When he recorded the scene where that deliquent guy was being gay on the other world! XDDDDDDDD
