In the distant future, where cyborgs and humans struggle to survive after the war which destroyed the world, a being in white suit awakens. His name is Casshern and he remembers nothing of his own past.

In barren and dark dystopian world, where every being alive seems to hate his existence and the evil from his past wants him dead, Casshern, haunted by the flashes of his past memories has to survive and figure out who or what exactly he is and how he got to where he is now. But he does not know that he might not like the horrible truth of the past, hidden deep inside his mind...

Created as an intended reboot of Casshern franchise.

Casshern Sins is not for everyone. The show pretty much moves at one pace, and that pace is ’slow’. There is a lot of silence, introspection, and philosophical dialog. Ordinarily, this would make one assume the show is pretentious (especially since it has a lot of similarities to Texhnolyze), but it really isn’t. Casshern has a very simple plot, very simple dialog, and is easy to understand, so people looking for a mind-blower won’t find it here. The plot and messages of Casshern Sins are much more along the lines of Kino’s Journey or Mushi-shi. However, just like action fans will be turned off by the slow pace, fans of more quiet, contemplative anime might be turned off by the fact that there is at least one fight scene per episode and they can at times be lengthy. Overall though, its a really interesting series, and its definitely worth a watch... Check it out, lemme know what you think.

This was a great show very moving and very sad .. it wont appeal to those who go in it expecting lots of high detailed gory violence but If you like shows with subtext and a meaning/message behind it you will love this show ... PS dont judge it based on the first 5 or so episodes the show takes a little to both get used to and to gather momentum

Super bump!
so I, along with many other people, just watched this yesterday.
Is it worth watching all the way through, because the first ep did not make me wish for more, it gave me the impression of it was the only thing they were able to get.
So, should I keep watching or is it not worth the time

You should once you get over the first few episodes it gets really good.. You just have to get into the world and accept its slow and depressing nature

I myself am a slow and depressing kind of guy,but I have to agree with Sleepology on this one.It wasn't all that interesting.I mean I didn't even finish the episode because I fell asleep and I have insomnia...I'm not saying that what you watch is boring I'm saying that the beginning was alittle bit well cheap if you know what I mean...But I'm still going to watch it because you said it gets better. So yeah I'll give it a chance.

I haven't watched it yet, but for some reason, the intro post+pic reminded me of Ergo Proxy :|

this is one of 3 anime i prefer to watch in English dub.
However, the show is.... well... kinda slow the whole way through and it easily losses your interest

Sophita, why do you seem like you could be such an adorable mother fucker given the right situation.

I like the show a lot. Yes it is slow, dark, depressing, But that is the world they live in, and I believe this series does a great job expressing the torment and sadness of a dying world that will take you along with it.
During Casshern's travels he encounters many people who have different feelings about the ruin, and It kind of makes you wonder how you would feel if you were caught in that situation.
That is just my interpretation though.

Cashern Sins is actually a reboot of an old anime called "Casshan".

That explains why I thought casshern looked familiar!

The is actually one of those anime that is well written and slow paced, gives you times to think of what he could have done to make the world such a desolate place.

The last episode with Sophita was interesting, how that girl fell in love with Casshern and had to literally fight out her emotions. It goes to show we all have our ways of expressing ourselves.

For some reason, even though this anime bores me a little, I can't help but watch it. Only after a few episodes did I want to see how the story goes out. This show just keeps dragging me along, so I guess I would call it good...?

>>19 If I were to spoil it I would've told you all what happens on the last episode.

>>21 You should never state what happens in anime. Be considerate of the people who may have not watched it.

>>22 for those i did spoil it for, i didn't tell them what happens in the whole episode, just around the end of it.

>>23 well what if that was the most important part in the entire episode, you just ruined it for them. Its a dickish thing to do.

Yeah, I've been seeing this on Toonami, and it seems pretty interesting. I didn't, however, know the name of it so I couldn't look it up, so I might watch it on my own now.

Seen it on Adult Swim, didn't like it that much. But I cried the song from a Japanese girl name Nami Miyahara-- her songs are A Path and Sky. I went crying so bad and hard, it was sad.

31 Name: Alexavier : 2012-10-21 20:41 ID:NzBrdAAI [Del]

>>30 I kind of agree with you. On the song part. I like the anime, but the whole story line itself could make you cry if you think about it because it has that twinge of sadness that is the world decaying from Ruin.

32 Name: some person : 2012-10-21 22:11 ID:gR2g3or3 [Del]

Love casshern sins. You don't have to agree with me, or yell at me for loving it, but the truth is the truth. It's an awsome anime.

33 Name: LEGION : 2012-10-21 22:31 ID:/gMC3ttB [Del]

Alexavier... Nami Miyahara sing Path and Sky from the episode that makes me cry. It's like Bad Religion-Sorrow to me. T_T But sorrow is what I had, no faith, no blessing, no soul or anything. I'm Anti-Religion.

Am I the only one not okay with the fact that Sophita hasnt returned?

I watched this anime on Toonami and I liked it but it did get kind of boring at some parts. The fields of flowers seemed a little repetitive. But it's an anime that really makes you think and I like animes like that. The message that I got out of it that I think most people miss is that, if you don't have a goal, what's your purpose for living? I don't want to spoil anyone here, but it seems to me that whenever any character lost/gave up on their main goal, they began to ruin.

41 Name: Phantom : 2012-11-17 16:16 ID:I0PZuUCB [Del]

oh god, I cried in the episode with the 3 kids. The fact they played the lyric music when all 3 began deactivating just made it more touching.

Casshern's suit and helmet look very dorky

43 Name: Shade !8NBuQ4l6uQ : 2012-11-17 17:24 ID:EZtA73Ur [Del]

>>42 Thats because its a reboot of a 70's anime. Back then, all superheroes of any kind had a suit like that. Guess they decided to keep it for the reboot. I think he looks cool in it to be honest.

44 Name: truth : 2012-11-17 17:59 ID:klJV5L5+ [Del]

me too

45 Name: demonkid : 2012-11-17 19:53 ID:p6oZcqv0 [Del]

I loved that anime when it came on tonami

46 Name: Balthizar !ux48/Vh3Fs : 2012-11-17 21:07 ID:gF427rHZ [Del]

>>43 A comparison that I like to make in that regard would be with most superheroes from the 60s and 70s (Batman, Superman, etc.) They still keep the outfit designs that they had from those times all the way up to the modern age. However, the themes surrounding them have definately changed to become much more mature. Comparing Casshern Sins to the original 70s anime would be the equivalent of comparing Christopher Nolan's Batman with the Adam West Batman. That's the way I see it anyway.
