What happens when you have the spirit of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann piercing the core of s-CRY-ed while evolving with the essence of Akira? You have Needless.
Don't get all stupid now and compare this show to TTGL in its entirety, that only leads to dissapointment, no matter the show.
Needless is an anime that proves itself to be a Frankenstein of themes headed by the commonalities, clichés and characteristics of the shounen genre. It borrows from and builds heavily on action anime of yesteryear, offering nothing new to the genre. It is loud, over-the-top and full of itself... yet Needless manages to do something that a lot of anime are incapable of doing: entertain its viewers.
The year is 2130. After the third world war, large contaminated areas known as "Blackspots" formed all over Japan. Large walls were used to quarantine off these Blackspots. In time, signs of inhabitance appeared within these wastelands. Among the survivors who had been abandoned inside the Blackspots, labeled as "those who were unneeded", came forth possessors of uncanny abilities -- Fire, wind, brute strength...they were defined by their supernatural abilities. Others, fearful of their powers, expelled them and named them Needless.
I could easily describe this show as a Shounen-Parody.. Its full of ridiculous bullshit that is just pure entertainment... and its awesome lol. Looking for an enjoyable & entertaining show to kill some time? Needless to say, this is the anime for you.
