Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 teams of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" which is the highest title for a weapon and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.

Maka & Soul Eater, Black Star & Tsubaki, and Death the Kid with Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls, these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures, like werewolves, witches, and demons, all while still attending school and trying to become stronger.

Soul Eater was a great anime, this was ALMOST one of the series that i enjoyed better in english dub than sub, unfortunately Black Stars voice pissed me off lol. Anywho, this series is crazy, the animation is awesome and well done, along with the art style being one of my favorites makes for some kick ass fight scenes. Also this show is FILLED with extremely colorful characters that prove to be constantly entertaining. Give it a shot if you haven't seen it, let me know how ya like it.

Soul Eater is awesome! I agree with the whole "great in English dub too" thing; very well done. There were a few translation bugs that cost jokes tho :/ (RIP Lord Death's "mandolin" pun). Also, "Shinigami Chop" will always triumph over the "reaper" variety, lol. However, in favor of the dub, the scene where the kid-witch kicks Black Star in the stones was epic XD "Gotchu right in the balls!"

This is a great anime and a great manga but I was very disappointed in the so called "ending" because Maka talked the Kishin to death. I mean all that drama for her to just TALK to it. I still love but it didn't really meet my expectations.

This is one of my favorite animes. I have to say though, the ending made me want to scream. All this build-up, and one word...it is almost as if they ran out of ideas. Parts of the final battle were great though (I have to keep myself from giving spoilers).
My favorite scenes were all SoulxMaka moments, and episodes 19-21 if you think that that show is stupid with the first few eps watch up to 19 and you won't be able to stop.

Amazing anime! I've not finished it just yet, but I'm only 5 episodes away from the last one (episode 51 being the last I believe) :D I don't know what anime I'll watch next, but it'll be hard to find one that meets this one! This is so much fun to watch it's great! I love Professor Stien, even if he is a little crazy. Him and the 3 main mister students and their weapons. Honestly all those characters are awesome. Maka's Dad freaks me out a bit, but hey maybe I'm not the only one. Oh well can't wait to see how this ends, yet I'm so sad to almost be done with it! :'(

Like, they're re-dubbing YuYuHakusho's movies that had been dubbed by another company over 10 years ago as well as the undubbed OVA, and as far as I know they're all the same voices; so if they can round up the same VAs for that, I'm sure they'll have the same for SE since it's a much more recently dubbed series.

Soul Eater started out as a few one shots; it was never going to be a series. So that's why the beginning is sort of confusing.

Was a great anime, definitely in my top 20 but the end was just rubbish .. like it was great but winning because she was brave common, if they didnt do that and had an all out fight like they did have but end up in a proper one on one big end all show all .. it would have been an even better anime ... I plan to read the Manga once i track it down , see how the show was meant to progress

My first anime (well besides Pokemon :3) but regardless it was pretty awesome. All of the plot twists and intricate storyline. But the best part was the characters. Each unique and not conforming to the same artistic boundaries.

But... the reason I am not re-watching and worshiping this anime is because of it's ending. It was complete garbage, something a bunch of 4 year olds probably wrote... But I digress... still a great anime.

I love this anime, it was really interesting, I love the excalibur face just because it's exactly the same face I pull when the English teacher tells me we have to write 2 essays

I honestly didn't really like Soul Eater. It was a little too... cliche to me, I didn't like Maka at all, she's too much of the good-hearted main character. Kid was the only really unique character in my opinion. Though it wasn't bad, the anime kept my interest and I watched all 51 episodes in a few days, so I don't think it was absolutely horrible. I suggest it to people who are new to anime, though.

Interesting point, Bones (the animator) might be re-doing Soul Eater the same way they did with FMA. There are MANY differences between the manga and the anime and the manga hasn't even finished yet. It look promising ^/_\^

I really wanted to like Soul Eater. The art was amazing, such a nice style and so well put together. The writing was a big turn off for me though, the format felt so much like a Shonen fighting series taking after DBZ/Bleach et al with 'Cool Fights + Goofy Character = Win". It all felt so formulaic.

The manga's better; the show deviates from it about halfway through, and because of that they're redoing the show to stay true to the original manga. However, I can't find this Soul Eater Repeat Show anywhere...

I liked the anime but the ending was horrible, but I really liked the art. I like the manga better cause it has a better story line. To clarify, the anime veered off of the manga after the battle for brew, and Repeat show hasn't come out yet. Don't know when it's coming out either. :'(

Love me some Soul Eater! I just bought the complete series, and I got it about 16 days early! Its easily one of the best looking animes I've ever seen. Plus, I know that they are making a new version like FMA, so that will be gorgeous! I'm pumped!

I recently started this series, I'm barely in, but so far I like the plot.

Death The Kid's my favourite so far. His OCD behaviour is simply hilarious. The fact that he's voiced by Mamoru Miyano makes him ten times more amazing.

This seemed like it had so much going on at once, yet it only lead to the fighting between 3 groups. In my honest opinion, if they did a bit more on the 99 souls and a witch soul part for the Death Scythe section, as well as focus more on the school (and spread it out more than just 51 episodes) it wouldn't seem too short in terms of action.

The manga is actually on going its on chapter 109 I do believe

Soul Eater is a good all round anime, but there are some points that could have been skipped and others that could of have more detail worked on and added, I also believe it could of worked if the original series was a bit longer as well.
